'Award of merit' - ePublishing Consortium.
Beyond Dark Waters by Des Birch presents a totally original story precept. The author succeeds in weaving facets of life that all face including fear, misunderstandings, courage and compassion.  The main character is transformed into the necessary forms to understand how all of life is connected.  It is rare to find a book that can be highly recommended by many.  Beyond Dark Waters goes beyond this expectation and should be mandatory reading for all people.
Beyond Dark Waters is hereby recognized for story originality, depth of interwoven plotlines and delivering a significant message during the rights of passage into adulthood.  Des Birch has achieved an accomplishment with this book as well as other published works has earned him the ePublishing Consortium Writers Award of Merit

From the Author

You don't get to live for over half a century without learning a few things about life.  I taught my own children but I could not find any books that really tackled explaining the rites of passage into adulthood.  The best time to deliver a message to people is before they get bombarded by too many one-eyed opinions, a time when their minds are free, a time when they are young.  I wanted to help them with some of the challenges that we all face, as well as empowering them and entertaining them with an exciting story.  I believe I have done that, but the ultimate opinion has to be theirs.

Few books written for children today provide what this one does. The valuable lessons are easy to grasp because the unique characters face obstacles which mirror humans' journey through the rights of passage.

I love the humor with regards to chickens. I think everybody will really love this part also.

The most touching outcome of Ben's journey for me is how his entire outlook changed in regards to his sister.

The main thing I hope children and adults remember after reading this novel is how air, land and water are all connected. This just might be the biggest and most important lesson Ben learns.

I now think of the "Bobs" every time I hear humming or go to a lake.

I agree with many, this wonderful novel should be mandatory reading in the schools.

As I have said many times, I plan to read everything Des Birch has written.

Beyond Dark Waters by Des Birch is Prolific!

There are so many threads weaving the levels of story taking place throughout this book that make the reader ponder themselves. The concepts are crafted very well and the creative ability of this author delivers a solid reading experience. There is such a strength in this story that will make you wonder how our culture would be different if this book were mandatory reading in the classroom.

Make this one of the important books to read in your lifetime.
