5.0 out of 5 stars Sports and the Olympics, January 29, 2009
This review is from: Beyond the Final Score: The Politics of Sport in Asia (Contemporary Asia in the World) (Hardcover)
I just finished reading Beyond the Final Score: The Politics in Sport in Asia and I came away with a much greater appreciation of the behind the scenes activities that go into an Olympic bid. Victor Chas gets to the heart of what really is behind a countries Olympic aspirations. The books demonstrates how sports can be a political, economic and social catalyst for change. The book maps sporting events to the political, social economic events that occur during a countries quest for the Olympics. The book gives the reader a complete picture of the events so that an holistic picture is drawn that lets one see not only the sports side of the Olympics but explains the interelationship of events going on at a particular point in time.
