I've been a big admirer of Dr. Goldratt ever since I had to read The Goal in business school; I'm amazed how often his ideas pop up in the workplace, and how many applications they continue to have in a wide variety of settings. As much as I consider The Goal one of the most important books I've ever read, however, I must admit its fictional format has made it a little tricky to refer back to or to recommend to others.

That's why I'm delighted to hear Dr. Goldratt talk about his ideas in such a straightforward manner in Beyond the Goal. Instead of being another business novel, this is a far more conventional presentation of his philosophy-a great way to answer some of the questions I've had since reading The Goal. If you're familiar with Dr. Goldratt's work, Beyond the Goal will help you sharpen your understanding and put it to use. And if you've never read The Goal, this is a great introduction to one of the most influential business theories of our time.

This is a must-listen for any business listener!

In the goal we saw that there was a light at the end of the tunnel, or a bright blue sky above the "dark clouds of reality". Yet, I fully agree with those that have said that the explanations on TOC are clearer on the works of Dr. Goldratt's disciples.

But then you listen to this wonderful work and then you understand the philosophy behind TOC. He is inquisitive on the current reality to the point where you have to think hard, again and again to see the real constrains come about. No, its not phylosophy of science, because when you are just discerning through the clouds of reality, he hits you with the "show me the money!?!?", why are we even thinking this way if we are not going to get the benefits??!! and Im only in cd number 3 !!!

For those of you who have had some exposure to TOC and believe it can make a difference, I would recommended this cd book.

A straight forward explination of this theory. This CD has really helped me to fully understand the power of his theories and has explained to me how this can be implemented into a business. If your interested in improving your business and your efficiencies this is a must hear.

This is my first, but won't be my last, experience with Coach in a Box. Dr. G. is in his usual form (obviously speaking to a live audience) but this material, in this form, is probably not for those uninitiated to TOC. An outstanding supplement to William Dettmer's Systems book on TOC.

This audio book is not a story, but still compelling as Goldratt walks your through his thinking processes. Very enjoyable to listen to.

Operating in a small business for years can leave one's growth frozen and stale. Goldratt's approach has been extraordinary effective at introducing me to a better way to evaluate and manage my manufacturing business. Great insight and help even for one just beginning social security but still loving to go to work and take on the challenges.

I could not praise this audio book any higher. Although the material is a re-cap of several of Dr. Goldratt's other books, it captures something his books can not: The pure emotion, the uniqueness of his voice, and his unusual sense of humor which repeatedly brought a smile to my face.Save this one to read after you have read some of his other books, and then go back and read his books again.

After finishing this set of 8 audio CDs, I immediately went back and began re-reading "The Goal" (for the third time I might add.) I am reading "The Goal" in a whole new light, after listening to "Beyond The Goal". Now as I read sections where "Jonah" is speaking, I hear Dr. Goldratt's voice as I read. I hear the inflection in his voice, and can even tell when he snickers at things he has said. This is a must listen, but only after reading "The Goal" and preferably a few others.

I am in healthcare and was introduced to The Goal while in business school in the late 80's. I have employed Goldratt's TOC ideas in medical operations ever since then. The difficult part has always been translating the manufacturing terminology and constructs onto healthcare operations. I found that by listening to Goldratt over these 8 CDs (and taking a few notes) I was able to round out my understanding of TOC in a meaningful way.

This guy is a stinkin' genius. The concepts he lays out in this book make so much sense. I've already lent it out, and can't wait to get it back to listen to it again. He finds a way to lay out some pretty deep thoughts on TOC, but makes them easy to understand. I am constantly using some of his ideas in my meetings specifically around the number of metrics needed and changing the rules of business. The only problem I have is getting the rest of the company to understand it.

I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to gain a deeper understanding of TOC. He really explains the 'why' along with some of the history leading up to The Goal and everything that followed. I plan to listen to it a few more times, because I'm sure I missed 90% of what he really meant the first time through (but still extremely valuable!).
