BEYOND THE HIGHGATE VAMPIRE

The 'reviews' of my book "Beyond the Highgate Vampire" by "a reader" and "Robin Crisp" are really advertizing Mr. Sean Manchester's own book "The Highgate Vampire" and it does not take too much intelligence to realise who the real author is.

1.0 out of 5 stars Beyond the Highgate Vampire
Having read Sean Manchester's The Highgate Vampire (1991), which I found to be the best written and most informative book on the subject I have ever set eyes on, I did not know what to expect from David Farrant's Beyond the Highgate Vampire. Barely a dozen pages deal with the matter of the Highgate Vampire in this very small, stapled booklet. The remainder comprises...

5.0 out of 5 stars Beyond The Highgate Vampire, March 27, 2006
This review is from: Beyond the Highgate Vampire: A True Case of Supernatural Occurrences and Vampirism That Centred Around London's Highgate Cemetery (Ghosts and legends-some interesting cases) (Paperback)

Obviously it is 'somebody' who is fanatically opposed to my own book "Beyond the Highgate Vampire" - which contains full-plate photographs (many of Highgate Cemetery) and has a colour cover, incidentally.

Contrary to the mistaken statement by Amazon above (well, they can't always get it right' bless 'em') "Beyond the Highgate Vampire" IS still available; in fact, not so long ago, it came out as a 4th revised edition.

There are NO 'stolen copyright photographs' in the book as alleged by the above 'reviewer'(although there are a couple of exclusive pictures of the person who really wrote these 'reviews',) and the book (along with many other of my books on 'ghosts' and the paranormal)is available from: The British Psychic and Occult Society (BPOS) PO Box 1112, London N10 3XE so please just write for details.

Or alternatively, contact Amazon who will now be informed of their oversight.

Just to set the record straight,

David Farrant, Author (of) "Beyond the Highgate Vampire"

5.0 out of 5 stars An essential addition to any home vampire library, September 26, 2001

Having read Sean Manchester's The Highgate Vampire (1991), which I found dire and flaccid, I thought I'd check the other side to what went on at Highgate in the '70s and was pleasantly surprised at just how good Farrant's book is. Well-written and interesting I'd say that this book, although not a very large volume, is an essential addition to any vampire enthusiast's home library. It's also excellent if you're planning on visiting the Highgate area as Farrant also covers neighbouring 'attractions' such as a haunted pub and the haunted Heath, all of which apparently reside on the same leyline. A brilliant book, highly recommended.

The remainder comprises mostly Farrant's peripatetic meanderings and treatise on his own peculiar brand of witchcraft. Anyone looking for an insight into the Highgate Vampire case will be in for a monumental disappointment. It is only worth reading as an oddball perspective for those with monomaniacal interest.

1.0 out of 5 stars An illicit pamphlet held together with staples., September 23, 2001

This review is from: Beyond the Highgate Vampire: A True Case of Supernatural Occurrences and Vampirism That Centred Around London's Highgate Cemetery (Ghosts and legends-some interesting cases) (Paperback)
How can this flimsy pamphlet begin to be described as a "book" when it comprises a couple of dozen or so poorly printed pages with a couple of staples holding it together? Then there is the matter of copyright theft. Some text and pictures are clearly stolen without any credit given to the copyright owners. The source of the stolen text is Sean Manchester's excellent hardback edition "The Highgate Vampire" that Amazon does not list, but is very much in print and still selling exceptionally well. How do I know? Because I am the book's managing editor! If you want to read the legitimate account, and not an illicit rip-off in pamphlet form, order "The Highgate Vampire" from Gothic Press, PO Box 542, Highgate, London N6 5FZ. ISBN 1872486010.
