If you really want to see the war behind the war I highly recommend this book. It is a wake up call for all to stand up and be counted. The time is here and now not in the future.

1.0 out of 5 stars Reconfirms what you already believe.
If you already believe that international events should be guided by the views of conservative, fundamentalist Christians, this book will tell you what you already think. Otherwise, you wonder just what the author is talking about.
Book preaches to the choir and maybe some woefully ignorant bystanders.

I throughly enjoyed Mr. Evans' timely book because the events described in the book are so fresh in my mind. Evans has had access to the most important persons involved with the issues of the Middle East over the past 30 years. As such, he is uniquely qualified to write this book.

He writes his book from a pro-Israeli viewpoint that the land covenents between God and Abraham about 4,000 years ago trump any Arab claims to the land that have occurred since then. Evans does an especially good job describing the extremist form of Islam called Wahabi. I learned that the extremist Muslims really do obey the Koran. The garden variety Muslim in the U.S. and Europe are much like nominal Christians: They believe their faith to a point but not with a passion. We need to remember that Wahabis and the extreme form of Islam constitute only about 10 percent of Muslims worldwide but that is still over 100 million people. They want to see Israel driven into the Mediterrean and the U.S. driven to financial ruin. They are taking their fantastic oil reserves as Allah's blessing to accomplish these goals.

Evans traces both history and politics and ties them into biblical references that have predicted these events. Especially of concern is Evans' warning that the upcoming 2004 Presidential election may be largely determined, not by American voters, but by Muslim powers who will manipulate the timing of terrorism to put the person of THEIR choice in the White House beginning in 2005.

Hal Lindsey's recent books on prophecy and current events have probably been more crisper reads for me in understanding the Middle East. Mr. Evans is a close second. Evans' book does show some evidence that the text was hastily written and even more shoddily edited:

On page 29, Evans incorrectly states that the Euphrates River runs through Baghdad. On page 45, the same sentence is repeated in the same paragraph. On page 59, the text implies that Hussein, the grandson of Muhammad who died about 632 A.D., was killed by rivals in 1680. Old guy !! Annoying little glitches that hopefully can be corrected before the book is reprinted.

I have only one theological nitpick with Evans. On page 24, he calls King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon as "wicked." He may have been that way at the time of the Book of Daniel Chapter 2. I think it is very interesting that Nebuchadnezzar eventually did recognize and submit to the God of Israel. (Daniel Chapter 4.) I think his repentence and conversion could have been mentioned. If Saddam Hussein were truly like Nebuchadnezzar, should we expect Saddam to repent and recognize the God of Israel?

These nitpicks do not detract from Evans' main thesis: The U.S. invasion of Iraq had significant implications for God's plan in the unfolding of the end times. Jesus Christ is soon returning to the earth and the main stage geographically will be the final fight between Jerusalem and Babylon. (Isaac and Ishmael.) I would encourage all unbelievers and especially Muslims, to read Evans' book with an open mind. Islam is Satan's invention to try to exterminate the Jew from the planet. It will not work. (Jeremiah 31: (31-40.) Don't delay your decision for Jesus Christ. Time is rapidly running out.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Perspective Worth Considering, June 21, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Beyond Iraq: The Next Move--Ancient Prophecy and Modern Day Conspiracy Collide (Paperback)
Although I've only been able to read the parts of this book that are available online, I must say that I was engrossed immediately into the subject by both the passion of the author as well as the effortless reading into a topic that could have easily been written from a partisan perspective.

The easy-to-comprehend style of writing takes nothing away from a lifetime of experience that this author obviously brings to the table both in his book, as well as from his relationships with key governmental officials. His appearances on leading national network broadcasts both in the past as well as recently are a testimonial to the author's expertise on this very controversial subject.

Whether you agree with his conclusions or not, this book will serve as wake-up call to all who feel that this current Middle-East situation can be easily handled by making the correct 'political' decision.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beyond Iraq: The Next Move--Ancient Prophecy and Modern, January 6, 2005
This review is from: Beyond Iraq: The Next Move--Ancient Prophecy and Modern Day Conspiracy Collide (Paperback)
The author's love and understanding of the Holy Scriptures, his apparent close walk with the Lord, his love for Israel, his close relationships with the key political players in the Mid-East, made this book a powerful, insightful book for me. I thank and praise God that I read it. It helped me grasp an understanding of the war in Iraq and tremendous danger the world faces from the terrorist threat. This book brings out the spiritual battle that we face in Iraq today. His challenge to the world is that we recognize the truth and turn to the God of Israel, the one and only true God. This book is a rare treasure that points us to the key role of Israel in these last days to open our eyes to what is happening in the world today and why. We need to know this information to stand for the truth and the all powerful, holy, loving God.

Mike Evans ties the words of the prophets Jeremiah and Ezekiel together with today's breaking news in a well-written and easily understood explanation of the struggle between good and evil in these last days before the return of the Messiah. This book is a wake-up call for America that our future destiny lies in obeying God's Word by supporting Israel and that the time is NOW for Christians to stand up and be counted as being firmly opposed to the "Road Map" forcing Israel to surrender what God has given her. Read this book and learn of the prophetic ties between ancient Babylonia and the country known today as Iraq. See much of what has happened behind the scenes and why the war with Iraq has consequences that reach into eternity. Find out why Americans must unite in prayer NOW to break the power behind the forces of terrorism! This book is a message that needs to be read by every American!

1.0 out of 5 stars Painfully inept, October 18, 2005
This review is from: Beyond Iraq: The Next Move--Ancient Prophecy and Modern Day Conspiracy Collide (Paperback)
Out of morbid curiosity, I bought this book for two dollars after plucking it out of the bargain bin of my nearby Christian bookstore. And all I can say is, "Wow."

First, what is the point of the book? The summary on the back cover claimed it was to reveal the mysteries of the middle east roadmap, but what precisely Evans meant by that is unclear. He mentions the roadmap in twenty or so pages at the end, and does not "reveal" anything except his strict opposition to any negotiated land-for-peace settlement with the Palestinians. President Bush receives far more mention than the Roadmap, leading me to believe that the book was intended more as a political apologia than as an explication of Middle East politics (and its relation to Bible prophecy).

The purpose of the book aside, I can't help but think Evans got himself in way over his head. The book is unorganized, its ideas unclear and undeveloped. He often promises to discuss an issue in a subsection's title, then proceeds not to talk about it at all in the actual text. For example, in the subsection entitled "Why Was The War On Terrorism Taken to Baghdad?", Evans mentions Bin Laden's opinion of the U.S, that the U.S. was at the time still searching for Hussein, that Bush had recently threatened Syria and Iran. He even talks about Abu Abbas, Abdel Rahman, and his discussion with a Saudi general -- but NOT why the war on terrorism was taken to Baghdad. Dancing around the issue might be an essential skill for politicians, but not for authors who want to command respect. Is Evans really this scatter-brained?

Spread randomly throughout the book are enlarged-print quotes taken from the text, phrases that I suppose Evans deemed so important that he wanted to underscore their significance. The only problem is that they are utterly vacuous. To list a few of the better zingers: "Organized crime is about greed. Terrorism is about glory," "If the troops had bacon with their eggs, it could mean the end," "Christianity differs from Islam as day differs from night," "Bush confronted Saddam, the godfather of Islamic state-sponsored terrorism, declaring 'It's time to show your cards,'" and my personal favorite, "Democracy in Iraq could become as contagious as the ebola virus." Perhaps Evans should retire from writing books and become a stand-up comedian.

Evans also makes many questionable claims, some of which contradict each other. In Chapter 1, he asserts, "Today terrorists have access to chemical and biological weapons that can kill tens of thousands in a matter of minutes." Wow! Really?! If it is true, and terrorists really perceive America as the great Satan (which most of them do, no doubt), then why has no large-scale chemical or biological attack occurred? Evans never qualifies his statement or offers proof. In his preface, he recalls a conversation in which the founder of the Mossad predicted that the U.S. would eventually experience terrorism within its own borders, noting that the likely target was the tallest building of New York City. Then, no more than seven pages later, Evans claims that "[n]o one could ever have predicted that the beginning of the 21st century would find the United States at war with [terrorists]." On page 14, Evans suggests that Islamic terrorists would soon make themselves the "delivery system[s]" for "an Islamic nuclear payload." Admittedly, Evans' target audience consists of blue-haired ladies, evangelical bible-thumpers, and contemporary Christian rock fans; and these people are not the most demanding when it comes to consistency and evidence (they do, after all, believe in invisible sky entities and creation myths). Still, one would expect Evans to know better than to write such absurdities, considering he knew the book was going to be published.

About the only claim that Evans makes which has some basis in truth is in the preface: "Iraq will become the U.S. base from which the war on terrorism in the Middle East is fought." Inadvertantly, it seems, Evans arrived at an unavoidable truth. The U.S. invaded Iraq not to disarm Saddam, not to disrupt state-sponsored terrorism, but to use Iraq as a base from which to project military power throughout a resource-rich region. That this is the only fact Evans manages to unveil in 100+ pages speaks to the utter incompetence of the man, and worthlessness of the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eye Opener, November 9, 2004
This review is from: Beyond Iraq: The Next Move--Ancient Prophecy and Modern Day Conspiracy Collide (Paperback)
BEYOND IRAQ is a very informative and timely book. A book that puts the Middle East turmoil in perspective. When I closed its pages, I had a better understanding of how past actions and present tie together. It also opened to view the issue of terrorism and the importance that we as a nation take the defeat of terrorism very seriously. I am recommending this book to my friends and sharing my copy with all who are interested.
Michael Evans writes with precise and forthright detail and "Beyond Iraq" will hold your interest through to the last page.
