Often times people think of freelance writing as a dream job that requires little effort and you only work the hours you want, and then they wonder why they are not successful.

Michael does an outstanding job of covering the positives and negatives of being a freelance writer, and provides the types of tips and tricks that only someone that has been there and done that - successfully - can provide. His words should provide a dose of reality for those looking for the quick and easy path to online riches, but also provide a huge stepping stone for those that are ready to roll up their sleeves and become a successful freelance writer.

Beyond the Margins lives up to the name as well, because many of the lessons that Michael shares are applicable to any entrepreneur that is trying to make their own way. This was a great read and I would highly recommend for anyone that is interested in writing or starting their own business.

Michael and I have worked together for a handful of years and have commiserated over the trials a freelancer faces. He knows - as most freelancers do - the struggles and solutions every freelancer faces.

This guide puts everything into perspective and makes the landscape clear for both seasoned veterans like myself and for those who might be thinking of making the jump into freelancing. While the title says it's for first-timers, there are lessons here that served to remind me that there are better ways to run by writing business. It never hurts to have some refreshing and clear advice from an expert.

Good work, Michael! Love the book!

I was fortunate enough to receive an advanced copy of Beyond the Margins. I’ve been a freelance writer myself for almost as long as Michael Kwan has and yet I still found a lot of new, invaluable information in the pages of his book. Kwan clearly knows the freelance writing industry inside and out and if you’re looking to take the plunge, which is not an endeavor to be taken lightly, Beyond the Margins may very well prove to be indispensable.
