5.0 out of 5 stars An Approach to Reality April 21, 2009
By Paul
Why is BMBD so different to me? I thoroughly enjoyed the mixture of helpful advice, self-challenges, poetry, and unique photos. The book is smartly divided into short segments, which allows me to read a piece and then sit quietly and reflect on the material. BMBD is the type of book that I can reference over and over, especially when I need inspiration or when faced with a road block on my path.

Here's an example quote (p. 19) that goes right to the heart of the matter:

"The worded description of this final state is something that has caused much consternation in seekers and teachers alike through the centuries. Perhaps the best that can be said about it is what it is not. It is not an intellectual conclusion reached through deduction, no matter how astute. It is not a feeling-state, no matter how sublime. It is something we receive, though we give it to ourselves. We become It rather than 'get it' and then know we have never not been It."

BMBD is one of the best books on Reality, or Absolute Awareness, and it inspired me enough to write a review here. I know this book won't "fix" me or my personality flaws. Instead, it gives readers the tools to find an aspect of their True Self -- something that is beyond the false personality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspirational Meets Practical on the Road to Grace March 31, 2009
I have read many of these authors on the Web going back to 2002. And much like those articles, "Beyond Mind, Beyond Death" offers a nice blend of directional material for spiritual seekers as well as ample writings from the Heart that deeply inspired me.

Each author attempts to decipher the mind's relation to God or Absolute Awareness or whatever you wish to call It. The book is unique because each Finder depersonalizes and demystifies the ultimate Realization and presents the possibility that Grace creates a permanent doorway to something quite ordinary. Above all else, they vigorously attack the seeker's dilemma of "a thing apart," encourage a practical retreat from "untruth," offer help and inspiration, and avoid a one-size-fits-all formula for the reader. When compiled into a single volume, each author reveals individual paths that amazingly enough entail common discoveries along the way.

Whether you're a seasoned inquirer or a fledgling spiritual seeker, this book is a valuable companion. It is a nice collection of authors who, in my judgment, are the real deal.

Ultimate Truth. Wisdom. Enlightenment. Final Answer.

If any of these words interest you, then you gotta buy this book. Or steal it. Just get it.

It's a compilation of the "best of the best" from several years of the TAT Forum, an online monthly "E-zine." Poetry, essays, photos, humor, excerpts from lectures, metaphysical insights--just a wide variety.

Digestible, for the consummate seeker of truth and meaning. Great bathroom reading, or train or bus reading, or park bench reading. Each posting can be mulled over for hours or days--or for a lifetime.

I'd call it good meditation fodder for someone on the path of seeking an ultimate Answer to their life. Each piece is a vignette with a core of depth that's surprising to encounter.
