5.0 out of 5 stars WHAT A BEAUTIFUL PIECE OF ART, September 3, 2001
By
This review is from: Beyond the Mind's Eye (Audio CD)
I used to work for a video store that used to play the video "Beyond The Mind's Eye" all the time (and I mean all the time). I thought the animation was beautiful but what brought out all that beauty was the music.
The music just sends you away to the world "Beyond The Mind's Eye." I have never heard of Jan Hammer before this, but now I am a fan.
The music alone is just as, if not more so, fantastic as the animation. Not to mention it is the most relaxing and energizing cd I own.

"palcerion" (Los Gatos, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Beyond the Mind's Eye (Audio CD)
The music in this sountrack is a swirl of everything that will not dissapoint you. I don't think one can safely categorize it into a genre since everyone (and I mean everyone here) that I've played it for loves it. The music is actually all sinthesized, yet it carries very little (if any at all) of the average techno style or other CG music.

It's great backround music to relax and lets the listener become enveloped in its melodies and flows. If you liked the movie, you'll love this even more since it encorporates even more of the song than was given in the movie (the credits music for example). This is a music purchase you won't regret.

This soundtrack, while based on the movie Beyond the Mind's eye, includes more than was given in the movie.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just like the movie!, September 6, 2001
This review is from: Beyond the Mind's Eye (Audio CD)
In my case, this cd is a hit because the Mind's Eye video was a hit first.

All the tracks stand pretty much on their own though. If you are into the late-80's techno-type music, this is it. And of course, if you have seen the video, you already know the tracks and are taken back there right away.

Good stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Great CD!, December 28, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Beyond the Mind's Eye (Audio CD)
Beyond the Mind's Eye has been my favorite movie for years- literally! I loved the music, but for one reason or another, I could never get a decent tape of the music (trying to record directly from the movie). On Christmas morning, I was opening one of my presents and was overjoyed to find this CD! I listented to it practically non-stop all that day, and I still love the music. Unless you have heard this, you do not know the great music you are missing. This is a MUST HAVE for any collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, new-ageish work, August 7, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Beyond the Mind's Eye (Audio CD)
The music on this album was scored to the animated production Beyond the Mind's Eye; the music's swells and flourishes match with the animation, and Jan Hammer has done an incredible job in matching it. However, the music can be enjoyed on it's own, and is highly imaginative and almost hypnotic. Especially recommended are both the vocal and non-vocal versions of Seed (download the sample to get an idea of the kind of music that's on it), as well as Pyramid and Brave New World. If you have a DVD player you might want to try to find the DVD version.

I have this on VHS, Flac, audio cassete and now CD. I just can't stop buying it! The melodies get stuck in your head very easily. Just listening to the music is a completely different experience than watching the video. I highly reccomend this to anyone.

Hammer has a truly creative, futuristic style. He tries to be evocative and succeeds. Most of the tracks are energetic or hauntingly beautiful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding 90's Music, August 12, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Beyond the Mind's Eye (Audio CD)
Beyond the Mind's Eye is an album featuring 15 different songs with a mix of modern, techno, and new age feel. It is the sequel to the album and, like its predecessor, offers a variety of primarily wordless music that is geared toward a variety of moods (the only two songs that do contain words are the vocal version of "Seeds of Life" and "Too Far"). "Too Far" is an upbeat, easygoing song. "Magic Theater" has a sense of mystery and enchantment, and "Nothing but Love" is romantic. I recommend buying this album if you enjoy synthesized modern music.
