Book Description

September 15, 2000

This thought-provoking guide takes a candid look at the moral issues we face in our daily lives. Using the Ten Commandments as a starting point, the authors bring fresh analysis to such problems as the morality of war in a nuclear age, equitable tax structures, abortion, marital fidelity, capital punishment, care of aging parents, euthanasia, homosexuality, and other contemporary concerns. Beyond Moralism offers solid guidance that is consistent with the Word of God as heard throughout the ages.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good book, but from 1986, March 10, 2011

This review is from: Beyond Moralism (Kindle Edition)
I like reading the books of John Shelby Spong, and this book does address relevant issues of the day. But the publisher should tell you before buying it that this was actually published in 1986 as an update on a book from 1977. Nowhere on this information page is that made clear. It seems like this was formatted into a Kindle format in 2011, but it is a book from 1986 and the publisher should make that clear.

Having said that, the Kindle sample I downloaded is a great read, but I was surprised at the date of publication. So if you want to read some of Spong's older material and apply it to issues today, it's still a good read.
