In one month, I've already been able to invest in mutual funds, increase my 401(k), cut down bad debt and work on getting term life insurance set up all at a minimal 'net' impact to me. I would not have felt empowered to do all this without learning the principles in Beyond Paycheck to Paycheck. It has completely changed my life and outlook on saving and finances.Beyond Paycheck to Paycheck is amazing. I would recommend it to anyone.

The most straightforward financial planning book you'll find. Understandable by the financially clueless yet extremely beneficial to those who have already begun. Unique conversational format. Unbelievable glossary!

I wish I could've read Beyond Paycheck to Paycheck when I was first starting out. But I can't wait to share Michael Rubin's wisdom with my daughters as soon as they join the workforce themselves. If you have any doubts whether this concise, cogent, and compelling book is for you (or your children), just read the preface. Now.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Entertaining And Recommended Read, July 30, 2007
This review is from: Beyond Paycheck to Paycheck: A Conversation About Income, Wealth, and the Steps in Between (Total Candor) (Hardcover)
I found this book to be very easy to read and yet still understand the complex financial issues we all deal with on a day to day basis. Unlike many boring and dry personal finance books this was much more entertaining and felt like a conversation with a trusted friend. I wish I had this book 15 years ago, it still amazes me that this subject is not covered in high school or even college! I gave my copy to my nephew who just graduated from college and he loved it! A recommended read for anyone interested in learning what to do with their income and build wealth while avoiding some traps along the way.

5.0 out of 5 stars "A Must Read" for anyone just starting out....., July 21, 2007
This review is from: Beyond Paycheck to Paycheck: A Conversation About Income, Wealth, and the Steps in Between (Total Candor) (Hardcover)
As a financial advisor I think this book is invaluable for young people starting out or someone who is faced with learning about finances for the first time later in life.

This is very straight forward and easy to understand because the author doesn't attempt to muddy the water with too much information. This should be required reading for all 18 year old children. The book is written with humor and is written with a young person in mind. Our high schools don't have the capacity to teach our children the basics of building a financial foundation for their future.

Michael Rubin does a masterful job of teaching the basics and giving the reader everything they need to know to build a life of financial security!

5.0 out of 5 stars I was expecting a lecture or sales pitch ..............but received some wisdom instead, August 19, 2007

This review is from: Beyond Paycheck to Paycheck: A Conversation About Income, Wealth, and the Steps in Between (Total Candor) (Hardcover)
Beyond Paycheck to Paycheck provided invaluable lessons on basic financial topics that everyone assumes you know, but in reality may not. What's even better, this fun, well-organized, informative book is told from the perspective of someone concerned with helping you help yourself, NOT from someone trying to sell you something -- which had previously been my experience. Mr. Rubin's insights and easy to implement strategies will put financial novices on a much surer financial footing, and will empower them to make the choices necessary to create wealth -- not forcing them to rely on people interested in selling them something. A great read that had me laughing and learning throughout.
