An Entertaining And Recommended Read,
This review is from: Beyond Paycheck to Paycheck: A Conversation About Income, Wealth, and the Steps in Between (Total Candor) (Hardcover)
I found this book to be very easy to read and yet still understand the complex financial issues we all deal with on a day to day basis. Unlike many boring and dry personal finance books this was much more entertaining and felt like a conversation with a trusted friend. I wish I had this book 15 years ago, it still amazes me that this subject is not covered in high school or even college! I gave my copy to my nephew who just graduated from college and he loved it! A recommended read for anyone interested in learning what to do with their income and build wealth while avoiding some traps along the way.

"A Must Read" for anyone just starting out.....,
This review is from: Beyond Paycheck to Paycheck: A Conversation About Income, Wealth, and the Steps in Between (Total Candor) (Hardcover)
As a financial advisor I think this book is invaluable for young people starting out or someone who is faced with learning about finances for the first time later in life.
This is very straight forward and easy to understand because the author doesn't attempt to muddy the water with too much information. This should be required reading for all 18 year old children. The book is written with humor and is written with a young person in mind. Our high schools don't have the capacity to teach our children the basics of building a financial foundation for their future. Michael Rubin does a masterful job of teaching the basics and giving the reader everything they need to know to build a life of financial security!

Beyond Paycheck to Paycheck provided invaluable lessons on basic financial topics that everyone assumes you know, but in reality may not. What's even better, this fun, well-organized, informative book is told from the perspective of someone concerned with helping you help yourself, NOT from someone trying to sell you something -- which had previously been my experience. Mr. Rubin's insights and easy to implement strategies will put financial novices on a much surer financial footing, and will empower them to make the choices necessary to create wealth -- not forcing them to rely on people interested in selling them something. A great read that had me laughing and learning throughout.

An invaluable resource...,
This review is from: Beyond Paycheck to Paycheck: A Conversation About Income, Wealth, and the Steps in Between (Total Candor) (Hardcover)
For me, reading "Beyond Paycheck to Paycheck" was like hearing the author speak live. It was very easy for me to insert myself in the ongoing conversations. I feel the book makes you a much better consumer (pardon the word choice) of financial information. Many other financial experts give you their strategies for wealth, however, you are all too often left without the proper tools, habits and information to start along the path to wealth. I believe the path to wealth is the most important thing to focus on, which is why the tools, habits and information discussed in "Beyond Paycheck to Paycheck" are all the more invaluable--not to mention the fact that they are presented in a such a novel way! I would be very surprised if you didn't feel more confident about how to secure your financial future after reading this book.

A seriously practical education for those people, like me, who somehow earned a college degree but lacked any real knowledge about basic finance. In plain and simple terms, the author talks with you about what you can do TODAY to improve your situation, whatever it may be. You quickly see the benefits of putting even twenty bucks a week away. Waiting to save when you have more money is no longer an option after learning how that waiting is costing you thousands of dollars!! An entertaining read, chock full of easy to understand information and valuable lessons. Great gift, especially for recent college grads!

This review is from: Beyond Paycheck to Paycheck: A Conversation About Income, Wealth, and the Steps in Between (Total Candor) (Hardcover)
This is a great read and particularly timely for anyone looking for a long term advantage. The conversational tone of the book makes it a quick read by breaking down topics into easy to understand principles. I gave this book as a gift to a recent college graduate. It's nice having an enjoyable book like this provide lessons I believe in by a trusted third party (rather than hearing it over and over from me!). I recommend buying this book.

Move Over Rich Dad,
By James M. Halepis "JMH" (Boston, MA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Beyond Paycheck to Paycheck: A Conversation About Income, Wealth, and the Steps in Between (Total Candor) (Hardcover)
Wow! This is a great book. It is smart, witty, and very easy to read. Many books out there that address financial independence are based on gimmicks and get rich quick schemes. This book is an empowering step-by-step guide on how to take complete control over one's financial life. The steps are simple and the wealth accumulation is measurable. Michael Rubin has rewritten the recipe for financial freedom, and it is easy to understand. Move over Rich Dad, Poor Dad.

The First Step on Your Personal Journey to Wealth,

If the very thought of creating a financial plan leaves you feeling paralyzed, then set aside your fears and buy this book. Michael Rubin is a gifted teacher who understands that a bored student doesn't learn. Beyond Paycheck to Paycheck is not a textbook, or a dry compilation of facts, but an entertaining "imaginary" dialog between the reader and the author, with occasional interruptions from an aggressive annuity salesman. This book is the next best thing to having a relative in the financial planning business. A safe place where you (the reader) can ask "stupid" questions, share your exasperations and know that the answers you receive are offered with your best interest at heart. Chapter by chapter, this book shows you how to build a solid financial foundation, from taxes, to insurance, to investments, to estate planning. The overview is complete without being overwhelming, and the examples will move you from wishful thinking into action. By the time you finish, you will feel empowered, informed, and ready to take charge of your financial future.

An entertaining & educational must have!,
By S. Lavelle (Glenmoore, PA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Beyond Paycheck to Paycheck: A Conversation About Income, Wealth, and the Steps in Between (Total Candor) (Hardcover)
I've read the other reviews for this book and I must agree. Michael B. Rubin has the unique ability to cleverly combine sound financial advice with wit and humor. To be honest I haven't read many financial books, but this is one where I actually found myself laughing out loud.
This is a must have book for readers of all ages - from young professionals just starting out to highly seasoned and successful executives. There are easy to understand financial lessons for all ages, walks of life, and backgrounds that can be learned and applied. And Mr. Rubin's writing is very digestable without talking down or taking on a patronizing tone - it really is like listening to a knowledgeable and trusted friend and having a "conversation". Just applying one of the many ideas or concepts from this book puts you in a better financial position than having done nothing at all. And I think a lot of us need the reassurance that doing something (not buying the daily latte for example) is a step in the right direction to financial security. This book covers a broad range of concepts and topics but all with our best interest in mind. This book also makes a great gift - perfect as a graduation present or for those hard to shop for people. I for one will be buying it for both my graduating cousins and I'm sure they will thank me in the years to come. Of couse, I'll be keeping my copy for reference too!

I didn't major in fiance while I was in college for a reason, I don't understand all the ins and outs and do not enjoy learning about it. This book is very easy to read and understand. I'm not sure how I made it into my mid thirties without knowing all of this. Think how much further ahead of the game I would be!!! The good news is that the author teaches you how to fix it from this day forward. I would and do highly recommend it and I am saving it for when my children get older and enter into the work force. It can teach them better than I can about using your money in the best way!!!
