Y' know, I actually liked it., January 25, 2009

Being the only other Five-star review on this game, I have to say I really enjoyed it. It has no real depth in story (i.e. not an FF game), but sometimes I enjoy those "The underdog becomes the savior of some world and I need to kill a big mean monster" plots. It's charater design actually kind of reminds me of Shining Force 2. And it has another element I really liked about it: Character Promotion. Instead of being able to choose from over four million classes like you do in more modern RPG's, you work really hard to attain just one class (Again, much like shining Force). After you reach level 20, you can change your character class. This allows you to equip the later weapons in the game, and gives it a sense of challenge.
Plus, there are hidden characters in the game as well. I honestly think it's worth the investment if you like old school turn based RPG's and want to listen to a basic "Hero saves the day" storyline.
The graphics however, are absolutely awful, even when it first came out. The character designs are extremely pixelated and the animation in battle is really choppy.
But I personally would recommend it- if for nothing else, a casual play through and a break from the melodramatic RPGs like Xenosaga and FF.

Not So Beyond Anything, January 2, 2008

The plot is very thinly developed. It plays out as if someone stole a copy of the first stage of brainstorming for a Final Fantasy game--i.e. very weak and underdeveloped. It might have had some merit if the developers had simply scratched below the surface of the storyline and given it some depth. Although it does feature some hidden optional characters, the time between save points can be frustrating.

A Fun RPG, March 6, 2008

I don't know what it is with all the negative reviews here on this game. Yes, it's not Final Fantasy but it wasn't meant to be one. I found it to be entertaining just the same. If you go into it not expecting Final Fantasy, then you might find a good RPG in it. For RPG fans only.
