Editorial Reviews

Product Description
Equestrians from all walks of life—from backyard riders to international competitors—share a common bond when it comes to the loss of a horse, whether it be through death or some other circumstance, such as being forced to sell due to finances. All such losses may cause us great grief. In a profound sense, this book was written for all of us. Beyond the Rainbow Bridge was written to help equestrians (and those close to them) understand, cope with and, eventually, heal from, the loss of a horse. The book covers a variety of topics, including: *The emotions that characterize the grieving process *Understanding and preparing for euthanasia *Coping with a sudden loss due to accident or illness *Options for burial, cremation, or other methods of disposal *Helping a child cope with losing a horse *How horses deal with the loss of a stablemate *Ideas for memorializing a special horse *Bonding with another horse after a loss. Beyond the Rainbow Bridge is filled with practical advice from professionals such as clinical psychologist and veterinarians, and shares the personal stories of horse folks from backyard riders to famous horse people such as Lynn Palm and John Lyons that will provide comfort in your journey through the healing process. While nothing can alter the pain of losing an equine companion, Beyond the Rainbow Bridge gives affirming and inspiration advice and comfort. It is also a very kind gift for a friend going through a difficult time. Folio: 176

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book, June 13, 2006
By J. Sacchetti (New Hampshire) - See all my reviews

I discovered this book when I was struggling with the decision to have my 23 year old horse put down. I read it, teary eyed, from cover to cover the night I received it. This book allowed me to see that the feelings I was having were perfectly normal and I was not alone. It also helped me to learn what to expect when the time came. I would like to thank Kimberly Gatto for taking the time to write this book. It was very much needed.

5.0 out of 5 stars When you lose your friend, June 21, 2009
By Gayle Dodds (Eastpoint, florida United States) - See all my reviews

I was given a gift,by someone higher than myself,of a Morgan that was mine to keep and love and care for, for 34 years. When it came time for my final gift to Mac,I buried a part of my soul with him. I purchased this book some 18 months after his death and read how countless others dealt with the same emotions and grief that I experience even now. The poetry and sayings were especially meaningful to me. I think horse folk should read this book as a means to an end; for me, that is love them while you have them with you,for ever how long that may be.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beyond The Rainbow Bridge, November 1, 2008
By Vicki L. Ewy (Henderson, Nevada) - See all my reviews

I had just lost my 5 yr. old Tennessee Walker filly to colic and was grieving terribly. We had her cremated at the Guardian Afterlife facility in California. They suggested this book. After I read it, I felt better. It offered good suggestions (which I took). I highly recommend it to anyone who has lost their special friend.
