5.0 out of 5 stars The Eastern Touch, November 23, 2000
This review is from: Beyond Rangoon (Audio CD)
If you are like me, and you are partial to movie scores, particularly because they emotionally move you like the movie and scenes they compliment, this is a very good investment. The touch of the recorder adds a foreign beauty and mystery to the sometimes melancholy, sometimes exciting, and overall bittersweet instrumentals. Hans Zimmer outdid himself with this wondrous and moving score, and it is definitely one of his best. This is one of those rare soundtracks in which you can lose yourself, and let the enchanting music sweep you away with its mystique of the orient.

5.0 out of 5 stars Zimmer's finest, February 11, 2001
By
"frayboy" (New York, New York USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Beyond Rangoon (Audio CD)
This is Hans Zimmer's best, and perhaps least known, socre. It's a masterpiece, and it's amazing that it's never received the attention it deserves. More wistful and slower than Zimmer's better know works like Crimson Tide and The Rock. Probably closest to Gladiator in parts. In this soundtrack he uses pan-pipes to their full. It's a gem, and should be listened to when you're in one of those thoughtful and reflective moods.
