5.0 out of 5 stars Yet More Brilliance
Three different earths, three different dimensions, each spiraling out of control as the weave that holds the dimensions begins to crumble. With Beyond the Reflection's Edge, Bryan Davis has penned a tale that readers of his previous works couldn't have anticipated. Starting out fast, the book never slows down until the last turn of the page. A worthy read for all lovers...

I really tried to like this book. However, I found it very hard to follow, with the multiple changing characters, and jumping from place to place. I had to draw a diagram to keep the good guys and the bad guys straight. I did finish the book and was very disappointed with an ending that left too many unanswered questions. When I finished reading Beyond the Reflection's Edge the first time, I was blown away by the intricacies of the plot and characters. All I can say is "Wow."

5.0 out of 5 stars My kind of book. My kind of unique plot. My kind of story., February 27, 2009
Review by Jill Williamson

Sixteen-year-old Nathan Shepherd has an unusual life traveling the world with his investigator father, his world-renowned violinist mother, and his personal tutor. Something goes wrong at a concert in Chicago that results in the death of his parents. Nathan moves to a small town to live with a childhood friend of his father's and his teenage daughter Kelly. He takes little with him: his mother's violin and the Quattro mirror his father had insisted he keep safe.

As Nathan tries to adapt to his new life, he discovers that his small mirror is the missing piece of a wall-sized mirror in his new bedroom. Once the mirror is whole, Nathan stumbles onto a mystery. The mirror shows him things. But are they his dreams? the future? or a different world? Could his parents still be alive? Nathan and Kelly must work together to figure it all out.

Wow. This was a completely unexpected and unique story. I've read a few books before that deal with different dimensions, and although this one did get a bit confusing, it was much easier to understand for this non-science girl. I liked Nathan's character a lot. This world needs a lot more "perfect gentlemen." I also really enjoyed how the plot kept unfolding. I sort of saw the ending coming, but I didn't know how Bryan Davis was going to get us there. Overall, this was a really entertaining, fast-paced story. My kind of book. My kind of unique plot. My kind of story. Highly recommended.

I really tried to like this book. However, I found it very hard to follow, with the multiple changing characters, and jumping from place to place. I had to draw a diagram to keep the good guys and the bad guys straight. I did finish the book and was very disappointed with an ending that left too many unanswered questions. I found the main character a little "too good to be true", at one point in the story he asks himself if he can overcome the "past" of the female lead. The only past mentioned was that the girl made the mistake of wearing a low-cut dress and liked the attention it brought. A little unrealistic for this day and age.

That being said I did enjoy the Christian ideals set forth by Nathan and his parents, and the beautiful language used to describe God's beauty in the world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Alternating dimensions and then some, May 30, 2008
Yesterday afternoon, when I decided to get ahead by reading this book, I wasn't sure what to expect. Most of the reviews I had read so far were brief and all stating the wonders of this book and this author in general. The first chapter was a little odd and I was a little confused. But as I read more, more was able to sink in and I was able to understand what was going on.

Most of the reviews I had read so far were brief and all stating the wonders of this book and this author in general. The first chapter was a little odd and I was a little confused. But as I read more, more was able to sink in and I was able to understand what was going on.

This is one of those books that I could not get my eyes to travel fast enough to find out what was coming next. There were times when I had to go back and re-read a passage, just because it was too much. I've never been much of a fiction sci-fi person outside of TV shows and movies, but this was better than any TV show and any movie that I have ever seen.

There was spy action, there was holistic attitudes, and morals! Suspense and thrilling twists... An under lying message, and even just plain good human interaction and relationships of people to each other.

I'm extremely glad that I have now been introduced into the works of Bryan Davis and I must say that I'm excited for more. I especially cannot wait until this fall when book two comes out Eternity's Edge!

5.0 out of 5 stars As Bizarre as 'Inception' but Much More Wonderful!, January 10, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book is fantastic! Very confusing, but definitely fantastic!
At first, the characters (Kelly and Daryl especially) bugged me because I'm homeschooled and I was never exposed to people like them. But now I know that they do exist... There aren't just sweet, little "Bonnies" in this world.
The plot was very confusing, but that was good because the book really makes you think. I got through it in less than a day and finished the second book the next day. I'm reading the third one now. Fantastic, purely fantastic!
The book leaves me walking around and thinking, "Hey, I wonder if she's from earth blue... Is that Misty Red?" of course, I know that it is all fiction, but my mind just suddenly thought of that.
I love the characters and the idea and the plot dearly! Truly one of Davis' most suspensful and mysterious series' yet!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Surprise, August 11, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I stumbled upon this book in the Kindle store as a free promotion. Since I am a huge sci-fi and fantasy fan I figured I'd give it a try. As a 34 year old mother I was a little hesitant, wondering if I'd relate to a young adult book. Well...let's just say my only complaint was that I stayed up way to late on too many nights because I couldn't put it down. I had no trouble following the characters from Earth Red, Yellow and Blue. I thought the characters were refreshingly honest in their struggles and I admired the dedication to purity in a world (or worlds-LOL)where the concept seems foreign. I read all 3 books and loved every minute. The music and dance analogies/metaphors were so powerful and I am looking forward to reading all the authors other books. If only they were on Kindle already.....

5.0 out of 5 stars Beyond the Reflection's Edge, August 10, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book about Nathan Shepherd and the horrors that befall him is the best book I have ever read. The plot is intriguing, it is clear the characters are real to the author and it is even more clear that they are real to myself. Nathan is swept up in a a plot to destroy three earths by the bringing about of Interfinity by Mictar and his stalker inter dimensional henchman. After Nathan's parents are killed at a performance and an attempt is made on his life Nathan's guardian Clara is forced to drop Nathan off at his father's old friends' house, also the house of the friends' daughter. Kelly bounces into his life, almost literally. Her father is a basketball fan and player by choice and love, she is forced to be both. She is a girl with a crushed heart and innocence she fears is gone. Nathan is an entirely new kind of person to her, and she in contrast, is entirely the kind of person he would not chose as a close friend. An adventure intertwines their futures as Mictar stalks the three earths in hopes of stopping Nathan and his quest to save the worlds and continues to seek to take Kelly's eyesight and life energy. Neither of which dampen the enthusiasms with which he ventures on their quest or the strength with which she interprets the Supplicant's and their evil counterpart.

I hate to stop here, the story contains almost infinite depth but I shall resist giving more spoilers. Synopsis: I loved the book. Absolutely stunning, amazing, and literary genius.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beyond the Reflection's Edge-Prereader Opinion, April 25, 2008
I had the great privilege of pre-reading this book. I am not allowed to spoil the surprise, so I will only say that after being enthralled by the world Bryan Davis created in Dragons in Our Midst and expanded upon in Oracles of Fire, I eagerly anticipated his new series, Echoes from the Edge. The characters, like those in his first two series, are realistic, relatable teens that readers of all ages can identify with. I see echoes of myself in Daryl, who constently alludes to and quotes from such favorite fantasies as Lord of the Rings and Narnia, as well as The Wizard of Oz.
My good intentions to read only a chapter of Beyond the Reflection's Edge daily evaporated. I read the whole book in less than four hours. The first chapter contained more emotion and action than some books ever reach. From there, the story builds in depth and action to an extraordinary conclusion. Unlike some books, Beyond the Reflection's Edge yields more excitement with each re-reading. I can't wait for the next installment!
