4.0 out of 5 stars Good fast hardcore
First of all I am a metalhead and I am the farthest thing from straightedge you will ever get. I take pride in poisoning myself and my body, and whatever I can do that puts me in an early grave I support it, live fast die young. I also am one who believe in listening to music for the MUSIC first, lyrics second. Throwdown is a great intense band and for those who love...

1.0 out of 5 stars Hardcore!?
Ok, my friend told me this band was an insane straight edge hardcore band... Umm... first of all, this isnt hardcore, its freaking metal. Hardcore is like Black Flag, Minor Threat, Negative Approach, etc... All this is straight edge militant metal. Seriously, many of the "hardcore" kids who listen to this stuff go out and kick peoples ass just because they smoke...

4.0 out of 5 stars Good fast hardcore, February 6, 2005

First of all I am a metalhead and I am the farthest thing from straightedge you will ever get. I take pride in poisoning myself and my body, and whatever I can do that puts me in an early grave I support it, live fast die young. I also am one who believe in listening to music for the MUSIC first, lyrics second. Throwdown is a great intense band and for those who love heavy music you can't go that wrong with this disc. I am not someone who lumps myself into a certain category of music fan I enjoy pretty much enjoy all forms of heavy music whether it be any form of metal, hardcore or rock, if the intensity is there and the musicians have the drive to make quality music I'm all about it. While you might not see me at every Throwdown show out there, I will always support this band for their desire to make uncompromising heavy music, the fact that they are straight edge means nothing to me. Keep making good records, Throwdown, and I'll keep buying them

4.0 out of 5 stars ...And they do exactly that, February 27, 2002
By
"aiylyn" (Washington, Mi United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Beyond Rerpair (Audio CD)
This record, from one of the few California hardcore bands to gain national attention, can be summed up in one descriptive word: MOSH. That's exactly what this band wants you to do, and they help you through it with easy-to-shout-along words and plenty of tough-as-nails breakdowns. All you tough guys, limber up and get ready to bust out with the windmills and floorpunches; Beyond Repair is one of those records that you just cannot sit still while listening. Meant to be played at high levels, Throwdown delivers a devastating sonic assault from start to finish. Many consider this to be the best Throwdown release, and it definitely accomplishes what it sets out to do. So why only 4 stars? Well, there is not a lot of variety on this album. Not all albums NEED variety, but in this case, it is difficult to listen to this from start to finish without getting a little bored in the middle. However, the standout tunes (No One, Don't Lose Sight, Power Figure, and Get Sick) are enough to make this a worthy investment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hardcore?, September 25, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Beyond Rerpair (Audio CD)
well hardcore isn't just punk or metal. To me hardcore stands for a good positive message in the songs. That's what hardcore is to me. And as far as straight edge goes im tired of people saying that sxe is stupid and pointless. I don't care if you drink or smoke just don't attack me cause i don't.
and saying there's sxe kids that beat you up cause you drink or smoke is stupid, never seen it happen.
I like the message, that you don't have to get all wasted and messed up to live.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Listen to Garret......., September 2, 2004
This review is from: Beyond Rerpair (Audio CD)
...This band is Hardcore.....what garret is explaining is hardcore punk...and I agree those kids who fight because someone smokes are stupid...there's a shirt I saw once that said..."Straight Edge isn't cool...Because people like you made it that way"...now I am not straight but I do know what they stand for...those kid who 'claim' to be hardcore are posers and do not deserve to represent it. Throwdown is the perfect example of a true sXe band they take pride in not poisoning thier own bodies...I have personally met the singer at a show...I was outside smoking a cigarette and not only did the other sXe kid not give a (...) but the singer came up to me while I was smoking and started talking about music...as long as you love Hardcore as much as they do they don't give a (...)....I recommend buing this CD to any one who listens to Hardcore I personally like Throwdown's "Haymaker" better but none of the CD's have ever dissapointed me.....
P.S... remember it's about the music...

4.0 out of 5 stars Lame., December 26, 2004
This review is from: Beyond Rerpair (Audio CD)
First of all, Throwdown is an amazing band. They have amazing talent and deserve every prop everyone would give them.

Second, since when did good music become all about who's sxe and who isn't? You listen to the music you LIKE, not whatever you think is cool at the time or will get you into the in-crowd. It's so stupid of everyone to sit there fretting over "OHMYGOD THROWDOWN IS SXE! They're gonna beat me up if I smoke!" LAME. They want people to listen to their music. That's why they're playing it. That's why they're doing what they're doing. They're not gonna knock your teeth out if they catch you lighting up a cigarette after the show. Music isn't about who's sxe and who isn't. Learn that.

ANYWAY, this album is totally awesome. Though, I must say, I definitely liked Haymaker better. You should totally pick up a copy and rock out. Enjoy.
