Editorial Reviews

"Reading this book can help you to find happiness and when you do, you will be a success." Bernie Siegel, MD, author, 365 Prescriptions for the Soul and Prescriptions for Living

"Beyond the Secret reveals the true nature of the Law of Attraction, so that we may avoid the pitfalls of spiritual grasping and fulfill our true service to the world." Carol Adrienne, PhD, author, The Purpose of Your Life

"The much-ballyhooed Law of Attraction should come with a warning Oscar Wilde's observation that 'When the gods want to punish us, they answer our prayers.' It is no secret that people attract what they want; the key is to want the right things, for the right reasons. Beyond the Secret is a valuable step in this direction." Larry Dossey, MD, author, The Extraordinary Healing Power of Ordinary Things

"OK, so what if we can attract some of the things we desire? As Lisa Love makes abundantly clear, what is far more important is learning what is worth desiring in the first place." Roger Walsh, MD, PhD, University of California Medical School; author, Essential Spirituality: The Seven Central Practices

"Written in a clear and inviting manner, Beyond the Secret is a bold and fearless attempt to get readers to understand the difference between using the Law of Attraction in an egotistical, versus a spiritual way. A very important book, indeed!"--Susan Jeffers, PhD, author of Embracing Uncertainty and The Feel the Fear Guide to Lasting Love

"Beyond the Secret will guide you on the path of fulfillment. Learn how to manifest from the inside, out and not only realize your deepest desires but help co-create a better world for the highest good of all."--Jean-Marie Hamel, PhD, author of Living From the Inside Out and host on Progressive Radio Network

"When I first saw "The Secret" on DVD I had some concerns about the simplistic manner used in conveying the message of The Law of Attraction, especially to those who were not too familiar with the concept. What I loved most about Lisa Love's book Beyond the Secret is that it explains in a simple yet thorough manner to the layperson what and how to use The Law of Attraction. It does not embellish any false perceptions about the possibility of 'winning the lotto' to someone who maybe in a severe economic situation. This is an honest and engaging book that will take you 'Beyond The Secret'."--Samira Rao, author of Living in Chaos is Living in Stability

"This book is not only a wonderful response to the idea of the law of attraction but a guide as to how to manifest through faith what you need to be of the greatest service rather than what you may think you want. If the motives are pure the reward is always far greater than anything we may desire."--Calina Burns-Owner & VP CBuJ Entertainment, BOD member Lymphatic Research Foundation

I couldn't disagree with the some of the other reviews on here more. I also found that one of reviewer here really distorted a lot of what the author had to say. It's more like she just skimmed the book and I wonder if she even really read it or just started reacting and then skipped the real message here. I felt the author expressed in a number of places that we can go ahead and have the things we want just don't play the "See Me" ego game in doing so. Plus, as I read this book I didn't get the impression at all that the author was saying money was bad for you. In fact, she said in many places go ahead and have a billion dollars even if your motivation is to use it in service. And when she writes about the Law of Service and the Law of Sacrifice she says how it should be a joyful giving, not a guilt based one. But, if people already feel guilty about how they are spending and consuming, then nothing will stop them from feeling it. Certainly not this book. As they have shown they will only react, get upset, and feel even worse. But, if you want to rethink things and consider how the law of attraction can be used in a more spiritual way, then this book is for you!

Thank you Lisa Love for writing this book, without which I could not fully appreciate the works of Esther and Jerry Hicks. I gave it a two star only because of the potential of the unread portion, although I'll never know.

The first reviewer was very gentle her choice of phrases: . . ."you might feel this is grazing on your set beliefs. . ." Boy is that an understatement in my case.

I do believe that feeling your way to abundance, whether material or spiritual, is the fundamental principal behind manifesting your desires. Focusing on the positive side of everything no matter what is going on around you is key to this. I also think that a natural result of becoming a more positive person will make you more compassionate, loving and spiritual and you will naturally help others more by being that way.

What left me cold in the very first chapter are the contradictions made by the author.

EXERPT: Spirit encompasses everything that is! Everything lives within it and is a part of it. It has been called "God," "Allah," "The Force," and a multitude of other names. Essentially you are Spirit, and Spirit is you!

That said, the author goes on to make this statement only two pages later:

"Remember the law of attraction is neutral. Though you can use it to get whatever you wish for, it doesn't always give you what Spirit wishes for you."

Spirit is me and I am spirit right? So, if this is true, (and I firmly believe that it is) it is not even possible for Spirit to desire something that I myself do not desire and vice versa. In fact, spirit can not even distinguish between the reality that I imagine and the reality that I am living so how can it make choices for me?

I bought this book while I knew a little about the power of positive thinking. I didn't knew Dr. Joseph Murphy, Dr. Norman Vincent Please and Wallace Wattles. I only read The Secret and couple of Joe Vitale stuff. Then hit to that Beyond The Secret.

Dr. Love got everything she wants and now got bored. She suggest everyone to drop their goals and intentions about a better life and fully focused on living in a cave with a shredded cardigan on our back. I'm sorry Doc but I have things to accomplish. You already made your fortune, bought houses and cars. God knows how much you have on your bank accounts. But now its my turn, and you have no right to accuse people who have material goals and plans to get them. "Six billion people will have summer houses?!" - I ask you why not? What disturbs you that much?

"Whatever may be said in praise of poverty, the fact remains that its not possible to live a really complete and successful life unless one is rich." - Wallace Wattles.

Can you explain me; as a photographer, how can I express the creativity of the Spirit within me without having a good camera, good computer to improve the photos and share them with people online?

These all about material riches and material & energy is the same, you probably know this better than me.

"No person can rise to his greatest possible height in talent or soul development unless he has plenty of money." - Wallace Wattles

After I learned what's going on about the self development industry, I decided to stay far away from the material written by the "newbies" like you Dr. Love. From the modern teachers featured in The Secret to the other ones who very famous ones themselves out there: You people don't know what you talking about.

The author tells the story of someone who wishes for $5,000 using the attraction principle, and get hurts at work and guess what, the settlement is for $5,000. If you believe that something bad must happen to fulfill your wish, then you will get your wish and something bad will happen. The author doesn't get it. This is a self-limiting belief, and the whole principle of the law of attraction is that there is ABUNDANCE in the universe and MORE than ENOUGH for EVERYONE.
