4.0 out of 5 stars A Solid Release, January 3, 2008
This review is from: Beyond the Unknown (Audio CD)
Never really been a big fan of From The Shallows but this is easily their best release to date. With song writing far more technical then anything before the put down some truly brutal riffs and breakdowns. The guitars will keep you windmilling for hours and the breakdowns are simply chaotic.

The vocals range from higher pitched screams/yells to a deep guttural growl and the duel vocals truly adds to the music giving more atmosphere to many of the songs. As well as the breakdowns their are some fair quality solos something that bands of this type normally lack in. From The Shallows guitars are of good quality and you'll oftenly find yourself going back to hear a riff or lick you didn't catch the first time through.

All in all it is a solid release from the boys down in Ohio. I would suggest this to fans of the Hardcore scene and fans of bands such as Himsa, Suicide Silence, Dead To Fall, The Agony Scene ETC. Basically if your looking for good Hardcore Metal this is your best bet right now. Its heavy, brutal and full of superb guitars and pummeling drums.

5.0 out of 5 stars have your seatbelt on when you put this CD on, January 22, 2011
This review is from: Beyond the Unknown (Audio CD)
when you put this CDEP on from From The Shallows, you better have your seatbelt on. I am sitting five feet away from the stereo and I can really feel the vibration from this band. this is now the 8th deathcore band I have listened to, and I am stoked. until I bought this CDEP from From The Shallows, I was not aware of the Tribunal Records label, but I am now, and will be trying out more of their bands. the drumming sounds as if a cyborg is behind the drumkit, and this band is intense. if you liked this band, I recommend The Burial, Whitechapel, Upon A Burning Body, The Great Commission, Oceano, Job For A Cowboy, This Or the Apocalypse, Thy Will Be Done, and Earth From Above.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best Death-core albums to date! if not the best!, September 28, 2010
This review is from: Beyond the Unknown (Audio CD)
The production of this album is awesome. The guitars are very melodic and deathly. The transitions between chorus and solos is top of the line. Vocals are death wrenching. Dual vocals in parts add to the epic-ness that IS this album. Crazy drums, double bass is sick. This band has THE BEST BASS DROPS out of any death-core/metal band that I have heard. THIS STUFF HITS! For those who like Carnifex, Chelsea Grin, Miseration, Impending Doom, Salt the Wound, Whitechapel, or any other hardcore or deathcore band, THIS IS FOR YOU! It is simply one of the best Death-core metal albums produced IMO based on the contents of the Album.
