5.0 out of 5 stars Technolicious!, February 3, 2002
By
Becky (Roseville, MN USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Beyond the Stars (Audio CD)
I think this album is great to dance to and also listen. I recently just got this cd and was amazed! I heard that he (I think it's just a single person. I don't know!) is going to come out with a new album. I don't know but here are my song ratings:

#1-4/5 This is an interlude and has a pretty space song with violins.
#2-5/5 this is my favorite song and has a cool fast dancing beat with an aswsome tune and lyrics!Should be played at a dance party!
#3-4/5 this is my least faroite song off the album but as you can see I like it it has a fast tempo but not really an awsome tune. It's still a cool song!
#4-5/5 this song has a cool start to it then jumps in with a medium tempo! I love the tune!
#5-5/5 this is the first song that I heard from this album from a sampler and that's why I got this cd because this song has a cool techno effect to it!
#6-5/5 a pretty tune with also a cool beat
#7-5/5 this song also has a cool start to it with a techno sound and then jumps in a great tempo!
#8-5/5 this song has a cool dance and techno beat to it that should be played at a party!
#9-5/5 this song also is like #4 and 7. Starts with a cool tune then gets a cool tempo!
#10-5/5 an instrumental song with a voice saying some words that goes good with the beat and music!
#11-5/5 (the rest of the songs are now instrumental) this song has a pretty tune and beat with a synthesized voise saying a few lines with the beat! Really Cool!
#12-5/5 has a cool techno tase to it!
#13-5/5 starts out with a techno tune then has a synthesized voice come in say a line with a sweet beat behind it the song gets techno like throughout!
#14-5/5 has an unusual beat to it at first but then gets a cool tune throughout.
#15-5/5 a fast beaty song with a cool techno guitar playing and the lead singer singing some lines!
As you read about the songs this cd is totally techno and dancy! If you love techno and dance you will surely love this cd!

4.0 out of 5 stars Two Sides of the Galaxy..., September 15, 2001
By
Chelsea Lewis (CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Beyond the Stars (Audio CD)
Ultrabeat's Erik Augustsson certainly has a gift. He wrote, performed, produced and mixed all the tracks on his sophomore release, Beyond the Stars. The entire album blends house, techno and dance music beautifully, creating a sound that feels more alive and energetic than the one found on his previous release. It is split into two parts, the first nine tracks are actual songs with words, while the remaining six tracks are instrumentals. The separate sections are titled "Spacepop 2001" and "Dreamplanet," describing the feel of the grouping of songs perfectly.

The music and lyrics on Beyond the Stars are sometimes mysterious and sometimes very simple. One song that stands out is "Jesusrave," a song that could definitely be played in a dance club. The track is easy to follow with its steady beat and pulsing lyrics:

rave, rave to the beat
come on, come on and move your feet
rave, rave to the beat
come on come and move your feet
Jesus Christ is living and alive
gave His life so you can survive
it's just one way to get free like I am
wake up and see that you are dying
call upon Jesus' name
and join us in our flashy Jesus rave

The album is definitely a leap from Ultrabeat's debut, as it sounds like it was worked on harder and more thought was put into the music and lyrics. Any fan of dance/electronic music will enjoy the album and dance-club atmosphere it can create.
