Book Description

September 15, 2009 8 and up2 and up
From a celebrated author comes a tale of adventure, suspense, and friendship. Cosmos and Niner have adapted to their life on the street, but they decide to set out on a journey to the beach where they can enjoy the summer weather year-round. Their plan has one hitch: they need money to make the trip. When a potential patron asks what the pair might be willing to sell, Niner and Cosmos offer their only item of value — Niner’s guardian angel. Once they’ve set out, Niner takes a turn for the worse, and Cosmos realizes he needs that guardian angel back to save his friend. An arresting tale for young readers, Beyond the Station Lies the Sea is a terrific addition to an already beloved body of work.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Although the book is brief, the point is well made and may be a draw for reluctant readers as well. The story makes for a discussable novel as it covers multiple social issues."

4.0 out of 5 stars SHORT story for who??????, January 8, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Beyond the Station Lies the Sea (Hardcover)
A very short, very simple little story. Almost read like a fairy tale. AR level is 3.8, but suggested for upper grades. I don't think upper grades will be very interested and the inclusion of prostitution keeps it out of the hands of the younger grades. Tough audience to locate.....

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Book, April 24, 2011
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Beyond the Station Lies the Sea (Hardcover)
This book is so good, I couldn't stop reading until I read the whole thing. It is originally written in Arabic. It is an adventure story of two kids named Cosmos and Niner. They have always wanted to see the sea.(Insert laugh here.) I won't give away the story but I would definitely recommend you to read this book. What are you waiting for?!? Read it!

5.0 out of 5 stars A choice pick for any looking for original fiction, January 16, 2010
This review is from: Beyond the Station Lies the Sea (Hardcover)
The most important things aren't recognized as needed until they're gone. "Beyond the Station" is an offbeat tale of Cosmos and Niner, two men who dream of life on the sea. Selling off Niner's guardian angel for a chance at that life, they soon find that survival and continued friendship makes their nautical aspirations secondary. "Beyond the Station" is a choice pick for any looking for original fiction.
