4.0 out of 5 stars Solid set
Nice selection of tunes covering the high points of the band's releases. Not being a sound engineer, I find the sound to be more than acceptable, especially for a live release. The band is tight and inspired throughout. I've heard the LP and prefer this remastered version. Well worth checking out, especially if you like Crashing Dream which is a great new discovery for me.

2.0 out of 5 stars cherry red on the cheap (again)

However, we have the long tradition of cherry red (of which Lemon is a subsiduary) not using actual masters for re-issues. If you thought 'crashing dream' sounded bad, wait till you hear this. Put...

However, we have the long tradition of cherry red (of which Lemon is a subsiduary) not using actual masters for re-issues. If you thought 'crashing dream' sounded bad, wait till you hear this. Put the headphones on, drop the needle (sorry, turn on the cd player) and you can hear the tell tale rumble of a mastered from vinyl release. why they do this I don't know. Maybe paying Island for the masters costs too much, who knows. All I can say is, stick with 'Perfume River' for some excellent live RP. shame ....

The Rain Parade were one of the best and most organic sounding rock groups of the 1980's. Probably the most authentic neo-psychedelic band, without sounding like a revivalist outfit (e.g. Fuzztones), the band lasted only six or seven years and released only two official studio albums, one EP, one unfinished album's worth of demos and this live LP. The highlights on this disc are the new tunes "Night Shade" and "Eyes Closed". Ordinarily, I wouldn't be so excited about a live LP, but this band recorded such a paucity of material. They really just need to reform and make new music. Unfortunately, keyboardist/violinist Will Glenn passed away. What an excellent band they were...
