Bought on a whim...,

I bought this album, never having heard of Iona before. The description talked about the Journey of St. Brendan, who, according to legend, actually stopped in Bermuda on his way to the new world. This album turned out to be one of my all time favourites. The music is delightful and creative and excellent to relax to.

Excellent interpretation of Brendan's Voyage & FAITH!,
This review is from: Beyond These Shores (Audio CD)
Iona put together a 'concept' cd to tell the story of St. Brendan who left Ireland and came to America 100s of years before Columbus. Brendan came to preach the Gospel. Whether you believe that legend or not, Iona weaves a tale of faith and it points us to the journey of faith we take in our day. 'Today' and 'Treasure' as well as 'Healing' really stand out and overall every cuts a winner. If you like the message of truth and Celtic music with a 'Styx' or 'Pink Floyd' flair, I say buy it, you'll like it.

I know good music when I hear it. "Treasure" is a strong enough cut to make the CD worth it -- all the other cuts are a bonus. One thing the other reviews haven't mentioned: Treasure fits their description and has a gritty, garage edge to it -- sincere and to the point. It's moving and devoid of flash/trash. Turn it up and en-joy.
