The Queers - 'Beyond The Valley.....' (Hopeless),
By
This review is from: Beyond the Valley (Audio CD)
Yet,another disc release by those fabulous(yeah,right)potty-mouth speaking guys in this long-running all American 'vicious' punk band.I've never seen this band play before and that's a shame because they've played my area numerous times before.Let's face up to the fact, that if there were an award for the most offensive CD of the month,The Queers would most likely win hands down. Some of the tunes here are actually likable, such as "Strangle The Girl","In With The Out Crowd" and "I Wanna Know".But,with tracks like,"I Just Called To Say F*** You" and "Just Say Cu**"(love it!)makes one think these guys are trying just THAT much harder to piss more and more people off.Is that real punk or what?Just might appeal to fans of Minor Threat,Ramones,Nerf Herder and maybe even Screeching Weasel.

My least favorite Queers album. The Queers are probably my favorite pop-punk band and when they are at their best, they are a perfect middle-ground between the Ramones and The Beach Boys. This album has none of the charm, wit or fun of the Queers' other albums and crashes right over into crass, offensive, juvenile punk rock. It's angrier and darker than any album released prior or since, and angry and dark isn't something the queers do very well. As this is the first release following the death of long-time bandmate Hugh O'Neill, this is understandable, but it doesn't make me enjoy this album any more.
"Beyond the Valley..." is the kind of record you would expect from unexceptional bands that think playing really fast and saying F**K a lot makes them punk. Really, very disappointing from the same band that released "Don't Back Down" and "Love Songs for the Retarded."

I'm a huge Queers fan and consider them the best punk band ever, along with the Ramones. I've never understood why this album is overlooked, or why some of the reviews on this site are negative. This is a fantastic record, one of the Queers' best. Every song is brimming with great pop hooks and great punk edginess. In fact, I like this album a lot more than DON'T BACK DOWN, which most people consider their best. Two features which really distinguish BEYOND THE VALLEY are (1) the lyrics are filled with more bile (just check out the song names -- hilarious!) than the other full-length records and (2) Wimpy sings on two of the tracks. If you like the Queers, get this album now!

Wow...all I want to know is, who pissed Joe Queer off lastyear? I'm a really big Queers fan, and this bunch of songs is the mostexplicit and the most angry I've ever heard these guys. Is this a bad thing? No! I can pretty much relate because in the past year I've had experiences that've made me more angry & jaded than ever before. This CD still has the same great hooks and great punk guitar work that the previous Queers cd's have had. My own personal favorites are "Little rich working class oi Boy", "In with the out Crowd", & "I just called to say ____ You". This is of course, a must for any Queers fan, and a great cd for any any punk rocker to own. I hope they'll be doing a massive tour soon...but don't waste any more time...buy this cd today!

These guys sound old, tired and stupid. Granted, the 'stupid' is probably intended, but theres nothing fresh or funny about their attitude anymore. It's just [bad]. Their fans will eat this up as there should be enough of the predictable Queers sound to satisfy them (a few catchy hooks, dumb lyrics & the same [bad] image), but they won't be impressing anyone else.
