Book Description

February 18, 2011
In “Beyond the Kopjes,” a short story from Midge Raymond’s award-winning collection, FORGETTING ENGLISH, a woman traveling in Africa finds herself coming to terms with her own past as she witnesses firsthand the brutality and beauty of the animal kingdom.

“Raymond skillfully uses the resources of place, culture, and language to reveal the complications of the heart and the complexities of human character and circumstance.” —Jack Smith, Pleiades

“In addition to Raymond’s lovely characterization and sense of place, her deft use of metaphor is intuitive and contributes to the sense of closure present in each story." —Book Club Classics
