Making a big difference in my energy and productivity!,

This review is from: Isocort
I have been diagnosed as being hypothyroid. Lots of times one also has weak adrenals with that condition, though the blood tests often will not show this. (I found the Stop The Thyroid Madness website to be a wonderful fountain of info on thyroid plus adrenal help, personally.) It takes time for the Isocort to work. Maybe a month or more. But there are no side effects that I've seen at all. It is a natural product, not a pharmaceutical. In just the couple of weeks that I've been using it I've slowly but surely been getting over extreme fatigue and weakness. However, I also began using more than the 8 tablets they conservatively recommend, as for one thing I am tall and for another I believe I am careful to monitor things like temp rises and dips and pulse, blood pressure, etc. (P.S. After having a doctor listen to me about my adrenal concerns and getting - not blood but - urine testing, I was put on Cortefwhich with a prescription is cheaper and also more powerful than Isocort. But if you can only get Isocort, it is still very good. By the way both Isocort and Cortef may only need to be taken for 6 months or so as the body will heal the adrenals if it is given enough support and not too strong doses of Cortef (20 mg. will not cause dependency). If you feel your heart racing about an hour after taking the meds, it may be not only a sign that you need to decrease your dosages some, but a sign that your adrenals are healing! Rhodiola, Macca tablets and Ashwagandha have also helped many with adrenal problems including me. Oh, and don't forget lots of Vit. C. Doing what you can to decrease your stress levels is of course going to help you heal faster. Be sure to check out Dr. Michael Lam's website, or his Forum on Curezone at Ask Dr. Lam if you even suspect you have adrenal issues.)

I only wish I'd discovered Isocort a few years ago. This has been a wonderful product to help with my chronic fatique. I'm also a porph so there are very few drugs and supplements that I tolerate safely, but this one is okay for me and has helped alot. I can't take anywhere near as much as some or as much as is recommended on various websites,,,,,,,I start with one half to one tablet-chewing them seems to work the best, I've never taken more than three in a day.

Good For Adrenal Problems,
This review is from: Isocort
I have Addison's Disease and I use this in conjunction with regular oral hydrocortisone. This product DOES contain cortisol. I did several saliva tests on my own via Diagnostechs Lab through canaryclub.org and found that if I took 2.5 mg. of regular hydrocortisone in the morning 1.5 hrs. later it raised my baseline levels of saliva cortisol from 3.2 to 4.5 (a.m. range 7-10). I then did another test taking 2 Isocorts and measuring a baseline then 1.5 hrs. later it actually raised my cortisol from 3.3 to 7.0. This assured me that there is real cortisol in the tablets (which are made from sheep adrenals). I have used Isocort now for about 2 years with good results. HOWEVER! I would caution that a person spend the money for a 4 part saliva cortisol test to measure cortisol BEFORE starting on any replacement regimen of either Isocort or regular oral hydrocortisone. Adrenal problems can have many of the same symptoms as hypothyroidism and chronic fatigue. And, if you do use more than the 8 recommended tablets of Isocort a day, perform periodic saliva tests. If you measure an a.m. baseline before starting therapy and begin to see that baseline start to decrease significantly, it can be a signal that the adrenals are recompensating for the replacement cortisol. Some people can get the adrenals to regroup and start producing on their own over time but it can be a difficult and uncomfortable process.
