4.0 out of 5 stars bhut jolokia seeds
Not all seeds grew. But I did get two good plants last year. They only fruited once in the first year, just one or two. I brought them indoor during winter (I live in Nebraska), kept them near a sunny window and watered them once a week. they looked quite scraggly and pitiful. But this spring when I took them outdoor, they did wonderful in pots. Lots of chilies all...

1.0 out of 5 stars Ghost pepper vs. red sorvina, July 28, 2009
This review is from: Bhut Jolokia Chile Pepper Plant - Ghost Pepper - 3" Pot
I bought a bhut jolokia plant from hirts off of another site. Paid the 9.99 plus shipping. The packaging was dreaded, though I did bring it back to life.It came with the bhut jolokia tag. It grew, but guess what. It wasn't the ghost pepper I was waiting for.. It ended up being the red sorvina. Now I know that's a hot pepper too. but it's only half as hot as the ghost. I wouldn't buy a sorvina at 9.99... You can get them anywhere. Very disappointed in this company.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very poor packing/shipping, May 18, 2008
This review is from: Bhut Jolokia Chile Pepper Plant - Ghost Pepper - 3" Pot
I bought this pepper plant, it arrived dead, they put the pot in a box with packing peanuts, nothing else, nothing to protect it. It arrived with the dirt and roots out of the pot, dead, stem broken off at the root/dirt level. I emailed the Co and explained. They asked for a picture of what I received, but as I had already thrown it away I couldnt provide one as I explained. Didnt hear another word from them, no replacement, nothing. So I ordered one from another Co in Florida, got it in 2 days, large plant, healthy, was packed well. Think about it before you order. D.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bhut Joke, March 23, 2010

I ordered this plant from Hirt's last year via Amazon. It arrived promptly and in excellent condition. It was easy to plant and cultivate, and produced a good crop of peppers. Unfortunately, they weren't Bhut Jolokia peppers. I ordered it for my son who loves hot food (I don't), and he said the pepper was perhaps milder than a habanero. From photos I've seen of Bhut Jolokias (including the one in Hirt's Amazon listing), these were some other variety of pepper. Photos show a tapered fruit. Mine were all habanero shaped. I honestly don't think Hirt's intentionally shipped the wrong pepper, but I don't have confidence the company's fulfillment system.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor plants Wrong Plants, August 8, 2010
This review is from: Bhut Jolokia Chile Pepper Plant - Ghost Pepper - 3" Pot
I bought Naga Morich and Bhut Jolokia from Hirt. First off the plants were very small and had to be carefully handled under grow lights to survive, Then the plant were not what I ordered when they grew up. I notified Hirt and they said the peppers would have to be sent to them to be tested for strength before they would believe me. So now that the peppers are ripening I notified them and have received no response.

1.0 out of 5 stars They don't ship what you order, September 6, 2010

When you order a specific item and you have to wait 6 months to find out what you order is not what you received, then you feel that you where ripped off. This company knows a head of time that they are not sending you a Bhut Jolokia Pepper Plant. They figure that by the time it grows they have your money and they could care less about you.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't think it is a Bhut Jolokia, July 4, 2010

I received the plant and it was small but in decent shape. I ordered additional plants from a different source. These plants were cheaper and much healthier looking. I now have peppers on this plant and they are habanero shaped and look nothing like bhut jolokia. I am pretty sure I was sent the wrong plant. I would recommend looking elsewhere for the plants. There are plenty of more reputable suppliers. I will never purchase from Hirst again.

Well, I gave this seller a 5/5 when I first got my plants because of how well packed and shipped they were, but now months later after producing some actual peppers, I wish I could go back and give them a 0/5. These are completely not Jolokia's they might be Habanero's but not even 100% sure on this yet. So if you truly are looking for Jolokia's I would look elsewhere. You wont know until months later and there will be nothing that can be done as even a whole season will pass. Now I have to find a reputable dealer and have to wait a whole 2-3 seasons to get my Jolokias I wanted.....

Still they are way hotter than my Mexican habaneros.
