5.0 out of 5 stars Li amavo il mio amico piccolo, ma lo avete lasciato.., September 1, 2006
By
I loved my little buddy, but he left me..

I bought him about four years ago, and it has been a love affair ever since. A couple thousand cups of oh so tasty, très yummy café fort sans lait, avec une tache légere de sucre.. oh Dieu, quelle bonté, quelle douceur!

I'd grind the darkest, freshest, most glisteningly oily Italian or French roast very very fine, tap a couple table spoons into his steam trap cup, fill him with a cup or so of water, screw him together, place him on his plastic electric connector plate, push his little red button, and leave my little buddy to hiss and bubble for a few minutes...

And presto, bitter sweet ambrosia. About a large mug's worth. Or if a friend was by, I would split it easily. I've never done the little espresso shot thing, the coffee never seemed as strong as all that.

I would take him traveling with me on roadtrips. Made some great coffee in hotel rooms. Took him to Egypt for a year, plugged him in with a converter, and he was good to go. A total little trooper.

Until three days ago. When tragedy struck. My little buddy's gone belly up on me. I push his little red button, and.. nothing. Silence. My world has gone still. I am desolate. Disconsolate. Unspeakably saddened. For the last two days I have kept watch over him, occasionally nudging his corpse, listlessly pushing at the button periodically, vainly hoping for signs of life.. but nothing.

He's shorted out or something. After a thousand and one power surges on the Cairene powergrid, la vie quotidienne was just too much. In a fit of existential angst and ennui, he's gone and clammed up on me.. Maybe my brother put some Folgers in him when he was here, and that was it. Qui sait? I'll never know.

I any case, this morning, I snapped out of my depression (three days of nassssttty coughfee are enough already) and dragged myself to my computer, to order a new one.

My little buddy is dead, long live my little buddy!

Bialetti was the inventor of these Moka machines which have been sighted everywhere in Europe in recent years. Once you own one, you'll understand why. They are simple to use: just put in ground coffee, plug in the machine and within minutes, you have wonderful espresso.

Bialetti also has wonderful customer service. They replaced my electric unit when I moved from UK to US. Highly recommended.

2.0 out of 5 stars great while it worked, November 20, 2006
This review is from: Bialetti 6-Cup Electric Moka Coffeemaker
There's probably a reason why these are no longer available. Ours lasted 2 years before the electrical part quit working. Since we used it for travel only, it was used maybe 20 times.
