Book Description

May 6, 1997
Outlining the Protestant doctrine of "sola scriptura," Dr. Hahn shows that the belief in Scripture alone as the sole rule of faith was an invention of Protestant "reformers" that is both unbiblical and was not recognized by the early Church...

About the Author

Like John Henry Newman, Scott Hahn was self-driven to find the Truth. And, he was dedicated to following the truth whereever it lead him--even if it lead him to Rome and would cost him dearly. He eventually lost his job, his position in the Evangelical Society, many of his friends and his vocation as a minister. But, he lost less than what he gained -- the full truth of the Gospel. Thats when the former persecutor became a great champion and defender of the Faith.

5.0 out of 5 stars Challenging and entertaining, October 11, 2006

This review is from: The Bible Alone (Audio Cassette)
Dr. Hahn does a wonderful job of defending the Roman Catholic position concerning the protestant doctrine of 'sola scriptura.' The first lecture is a well-thought and fair summary of the doctrine from the protestant perspective - indeed it is perhaps one of the best defenses of sola scriptura I have heard. But then subsequent lectures he takes on the points raised and challenges the assertions and assumptions they raise. This is a core doctrine for protestant denominations and therefore it is in our interest to explore the question more fully. Faith untested is a weak faith. Be careful though, it may just challenge you to re-consider your core beliefs about the church and scripture and send you seeking again for the answers. But, if you love the exciting rides at the park, this is the lecture series for you. It could be the ride of your life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely FANTASTIC, May 6, 2009
This review is from: The Bible Alone (Audio Cassette)
This is a FANTASTIC series on why Sola Scriptura is un-Biblical. Hahn does not go into his talk slinging useless, biased arguments- he is very, VERY fair in his arguments and in fact spends the whole first CD (I have the CD set) giving an astounding argument FOR Sola Scriptura. He spends the next (7 CDs) working through Sola Scriptura and other protestant arguments on the matter. I HIGHLY recommend this for Catholics and if you want a summary of the whole thing (along with Madrid's argument), try:
