He began teaching at Midwest Bible College, St. Louis, Missouri, for three years and was not satisfied with his textbooks so he began writing his own (he has published over 100 books listed in the Library of Congress, 7 listed in the Christian Booksellers Best Selling List; several becoming accepted as college textbooks. He is also the 1995 recipient of the coveted Gold Medallion Award awarded by the Christian Booksellers Association for writing the Book of the Year, i.e., The Names of the Holy Spirit.

He was President of Winnipeg Bible College for five years, leading it to receive American Accreditation and Provincial authority to offer degrees (1960-1965). This book is arranged, as the title implies, into a Question and Answer format. I was very impressed at the breadth of subject matter covered. There's everything from questions about the Bible to questions about the application of Biblical principles to everything in between.

The one thing that did disappoint me was that not every answer gave a Biblical foundation for the answer. Given the title "Bible Answers for Almost All Your Questions," I was expecting Biblical answers to all of the questions, not just someone's opinion on some of them.

An example of the answer using a Biblical foundation would be this from page 199.

"What is the sealing of the Holy Spirit?

The Bible teaches that Christians are sealed by the Holy Spirit: "You were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased posession, to the priase of His glory" (Eph. 1:13-14)."

An example of a question without any Biblical foundation would be this, also from page 199.

"What is the sanctification of the Holy Spirit?

Various denominations interpret the word sanctification differently. The root meaning is "to be set apart." When the Holy Spirit sanctifies a person, he or she is set apart to God and should reflect the character of God. Because the Holy Spirit is holy, He makes the person desire holiness. Because the Holy Spirit is spiritual, He makes the person desire spirituality."

I'm not disputing Dr. Towns' opinion of the sanctification of the Holy Spirit. I just would have preferred it if he would have presented the Biblical basis for his opinion.

Like all of Dr. Towns' books, this one is well organized. It is easy to use and laid out in a way that helps a person quickly find answers to their questions. Some of the questions may seem simple, such as "Will dogs and cats go to heaven?" but others are much more complex, like "Why is cloning wrong?" Dr. Towns' gives easy to understand answers with scripture quotations to support it. However, I found that a few (not many) of the scriptures seemed a bit out of context. Some of the answers (such a cloning) were almost too simple. That does not make them "wrong" it just means that a serious seeker might not find enough depth in some of the more challenging questions. I think this book is most suited to help a person who is already a Christian and looking for a quick response to a question a friend asked. I think it is least suited to non-Christians who have difficult issues to work through in their own mind. I do not intend for this review to be negative, as I have suggested this book to many people. But like all books, it has limitations.

Note: I knew Dr. Towns when I was a student at Liberty University and on staff at Thomas Road Baptist Church. Dr. Towns was also on my ordination council. However, we have not had any personal communication in over 20 years, therefore our past connection has no bearing on this review.

A thoroughly enjoyable book of facts, opinions, explanations and insights into the Word of God. When this book is used as a reference while reading the Bible, the reader becomes more enlightened and desirous to know more.

I was thoroughly enjoying the book until I came to the part where I feel is great err. Mr. Towns states that a person can kill themselves, by suicide, dying drink in an automobile accident, chain smoking, illegal drugs, aids through illicit sex, or any other of a dozen ways to shorten one's life and still go to heaven because he once trusted in Jesus and passed from death unto life. I feel this could cause someone to feel comfortable in their sins instead of fully turning from them as taught in God's word.
