Yung Suk Kim is Assistant Professor of New Testament at School of Theology of Virginia Union University, in Richmond, Virginia since 2005. Kim writes plainly about the intersections of the Bible and culture. In this slender volume, written in Korean, Kim rereads many familiar biblical stories critically yet freshly in view of our life context today. Such stories include the tower of Babel, Sarah and Hagar, and Jesus and Paul in the New Testament. The Bible is a theological and cultural product. While the Bible is widely read by many Christians and non-Christians alike, its effect on the contemporary life is not always positive. Kim examines a variety of issues in biblical interpretation in conjunction with the contemporary life. The critical issues in biblical interpretation include what to know, how to know, and what stance to be taken.
