Good Info- but more Vitamins-related than Biblical-related,
By
This review is from: The Bible Cure For Fatigue: Ancient truths, natural remedies and the latest findings for your health today (New Bible Cure (Siloam)) (Paperback)
I have had Fibromyalgia for over 10 years and am also a Christian. So naturally I was very interested in Dr. Colbert's book, "The Bible Cure For Chronic Fatigue And Fibromyalgia" which by its title, seemed to combine these two elements. I found the information presented to be interesting. However, I do think the title of the book is a bit "misleading!" The majority of the recommendations in the book are based on healthy eating, supplemented with the more popular vitamins on the market today such as CoQ10, 5-HTP, and others- rather than giving the readers an actual "Biblical CURE or SOLUTION" as the title indicates for those suffering with FMS or CFIDS. I guess I thought Dr. Colbert had found a "scriptural basis for an overlooked formula" that actually CURES FMS and CFIDS as the title implies. If this is what you are looking for also, you will be very disappointed with this book. If however, you enjoy books that help you verify and confirm your symptoms of FMS or CFIDS; discuss healthy diets and foods to eat; and provide suggested vitimins to take for better health - then this book will satisfy you.

Not worth it.,

I decided to read this book out of curiosity's sake. I wish I hadn't bothered. I don't think Colbert really understands what FM or CFS really are, nor does he really understand the best way to treat these illnesses. While diet changes certainly help many, it is not the be-all and end-all in treating these illnesses.

The most ridiculous book I have ever read on my disease!,
By Saphyre Rose (Charleston, SC USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Bible Cure For Fatigue: Ancient truths, natural remedies and the latest findings for your health today (New Bible Cure (Siloam)) (Paperback)
I have the actual diseases and I have been fighting the ignorance of people saying there is nothing wrong with me or it is all in your head. But the stupidity of thinking healthy eating will alleviate the symptoms is irresponsible journalism. Where is this author's doctors license? I think it should be revoked. It is easy to write anything these days and to get it published, but there are people who read these books in the hopes they could find an answer to their conditions.
This book, while it won't "hurt you", it certainly won't help you! I bought this book at a book sale for $0.50...I paid too much. Save yourself time and money. Don't buy this book.

The credibility of this doctor is outstanding... all of his books are filled with wisdom... I recommend any of his books highly. He writes with much authority, knowledge through his many years of experience and in simple verse that is easy to comprehend. He does not talk down to the reader, but uses many visuals to relate what he is presenting. His Bible Cure series is awesome!

I have several of Dr. Colbert's series for "The Bible Cure for..." and they have been very helpful. But this one for me did not have enough helpful information for Fibromyalgia. Could be due the timeline. There is much more information that has been obtained by doctors than at the time this was written. I would love to see an updated series if there is one.

Dr. Colbert has written a whole library of short, easy to understand and read books on health. They each begin with a brief summary of the malady and what the causes are, continue with medical, nutritional and herbal recommendations. He starts and finishes with Scripture quotes, and fills the book with verses pertaining to the illness. They fill you with hope that with God we can take control of our health and find solutions for 'hopeless' situations. This book is no different. All the advice for CF and FM has helped.

With all due respect to the "doctor's" medical education, I pity his fibromyalgia patients. I have lived with this disease for more years than I care to count, and I know others who are in my same situation. This book is nothing more than the old-time traveling salesman selling the precious bottle SNAKE OIL! While my doctor (a REAL physician, who understands every facet of fibromyalgia) advocates for a healthy diet and exercise, THAT IS COMMON SENSE FOR ANYONE!
How dare this so-called doctor suggest that the BIBLE can cure fibromyalgia? Show me chapter and verse, please! Show me PROOF! There is no cure for this disease, and no one has ever died from it. Everyone is susceptible to fibromyalgia - yes, even those who read the Bible. POTENTIAL READERS: Please, please save your money and use it on something else - the grocery store, medication, a good novel...... This doctor should not be allowed to touch a patient, let alone write books on a "CURE."

Prayer cures CANCER!,
By
This review is from: The Bible Cure For Fatigue: Ancient truths, natural remedies and the latest findings for your health today (New Bible Cure (Siloam)) (Paperback)
Please, people - especially those of you with medical licenses - stop putting "God" or "the Bible" in your *medical* texts. It's like writing a book on "biblical physics" and explaining that quantum entanglement is the result of angels flying superluminally, carrying photons with them. It's *equally* ridiculous. "Gravity is the result of angels pulling on our ankles, and we can fly if we pray hard enough" = "Disease is the result of eating poorly and we can alleviate it with the bible's teachings." The Bible, whether it's true or not, whether it's spiritually relevant or not, is not a medical text, does not have anything to do with science, and science can SINGLE-handedly describe, define, and explain PHYSICAL events like disease. The *best* the Bible (or prayer) can do is dilute the truth of the physical matter, and the worst it can do is, well, cause a lot of confusion and even death. The God that allows wars and the Holocaust, despite billions of prayers, will not cure your cancer (let alone your CFS/FMS) because *you* prayed for it. He already DIED for you - try doing the rest yourself. Or letting your doctor do it.

To Your Good Health,

I like books that mix the spiritually with good health sense (diet, stress reduction, supplaments, etc). Take it one step further. I like Henry Wright's book, "A More Excellent Way" which delves into spiritual causes for disease. Not to give too much away, but why does Fibromyalgia hit 90% women and only 10% men?
