Helpful Guide,

Father Kersten does an admirable job of guiding the reader through a representative sampling of Scripture. His brief meditations on each text are thoughtful and fresh. Although his Catholic faith shines through, this guide is ecumenical in spirit. People of all Christian denominations would benefit. My only criticism of the volume is that the Biblical selections he recommends are very brief. The reader would do well to turn to the short selection in the Bible, and then read the verses ahead and the ones that follow. Over all, the guide is helpful as it presents a wide sweep through Scripture in the course of a year.
