This Bible is clever in the way that it was marketed and packaged. But there are some major problems with it.If you are used to reading the Bible with it typeset as poetry, which is how much of it was written, this will be a challenging book to look at, let alone read. None of the Psalms are typeset as poetry. All English language and most foreign translation books typeset the Psalms and other "song" type lyrics or poetry as poetry. None of this book is typeset that way. It's a radical concept. It looks like a novel. For me it does not work. Societe Biblique de Geneve are the people who initiated the translation, which is easy to read, and a good translation. But I guess they decided that French speaking people would be more attracted to the Bible that is a little radical in the way it is laid out. It might work if the type were bigger. Well, no it wouldn't. The world of the French and the Bible. It's a strange combination. The French are not really fond of reading the Bible, and it shows. The Swiss? I don't know. Segond 21 also produced an iphone app of this translation that is just as barebones and poorly thought out. It's free, but that's about the only benefit. Like this book, none of the text is typeset as poetry with the app. It's just not very well done. I have four English translation apps on my iphone. All are first rate, or attempt to make it user friendly. The Segond 21 app is just not very nice. You have to set the type size every time you use the app, because it is not saved. When you select a book and chapter, you have to designate which verse to start at, instead of it starting at the first verse of the chapter. Annoying.
