About the Author

Sifting through the world's all-time best selling book for its least known and most strangely compelling passages requires a high level of dedication to and fascination with the subject matter. First-time author Michael Morris has risen to that challenge with his book Bible Funmentionables: A Lighthearted Look at the Wildest Verses You've Never Been Told! During his 17 years of religious training in Catholic schools, he repeatedly heard the pleasant and inoffensive passages of the Bible; however, in his 20 years of independent biblical and religious studies he discovered there was another side that wasn't being told. Whereas a religious authority may try to explain away difficult passages, Morris' refreshing man-in-the-pew perspective allows the Bible's authority to speak for itself, as he complements each passage with his own humorous and thought-provoking commentary. Morris, an art director and illustrator for over 20 years, set out to create a Bible book like none other. Its lively illustrations and graphics are designed to appeal even to those who would never consider picking up a Bible. Employing the creative wit that he has drawn on in crafting communication materials for Fortune 500 companies worldwide, Morris has filled Bible Funmentionables with jaw-dropping and rib-tickling quotations, intriguing quizzes, laughably-less-than-inspirational Bible posters, as well as one of the more peculiar indexes ever in print. It was during his teen years that he first heard the Bible's odd pronouncement recommending amputation for a woman who inappropriately lends a hand to her brawling husband in Deuteronomy 25:11-12. Since then, he has been on his own sort of mission to uncover other fascinating Bible peculiarities in the hopes of offering a more complete picture of the Bible than the simple, sanitized version that is currently being taught around the globe and in a house of worship near you.

This book is funny, surprising and informative.
Johnnie Terry
It can be read, chapter and verse, all the way through, but it's one of those books that's perfect for flipping through and choosing individual sections to enjoy.
Mark Bauer
I still laugh just thinking about some of them... "Foxes will make their holes there, and it will be a meeting-place for ostriches."

This is a very entertaining book. Its not a religious book, and its not a bible. Its just fun to read. Not only does Mr. Morris highlight the surprising Bible passages you have never heard; he adds hilarious commentary. I find it quite enlightening to read what is actually in the Bible that I have never heard. Also, its an easy read - you really can read one page at a time if you wanted and be very entertained. You should read it.

This book was recommended by a friend, and after enjoying it for several weeks, we are telling other friends about it. It's really the perfect coffee table book: you can pick it up and spend quality time with it, thoroughly enjoying the quotes, the commentary, and the great illustrations, or you can literally pick it up and read one thing in it at random and have a good giggle. I've taken to the latter lately, reading to the family a quote of the day. I still laugh just thinking about some of them... "Foxes will make their holes there, and it will be a meeting-place for ostriches." -- Isaiah 34:13... what? There is so much in this book that it will take a while to make it through, and a lot of it just gets better as you read it again anyway, so I see this being a family favorite for many years to come.

Great fun, great value, it's everything you want in a biblical amusement park, in book form!

Spoiler alert!!! This book dares to directly quote parts of the Bible that you might find absolutely absurd, offensive, or simply incorrect, so Fundamentalists beware - this book could change the way you look at the Bible. Then, after that, you'll have a load of laughs. Very entertaining book!

This information is available in many other books but no other book presents the material in such a well-0rganized, fun and readily accessible way. This book is funny, surprising and informative. I highly recommend it. I will soon have to purchase a second copy as my daughter picked up my first copy and refuses to return it.

I really enjoyed this book. It can be read, chapter and verse, all the way through, but it's one of those books that's perfect for flipping through and choosing individual sections to enjoy. It's a great conversation starter and good for laughs with friends. The writing (and illustrations) are clever, funny, well-researched, and informative. And, despite it's subject, it's unlikely to result in the author (or his readers) being struck by a vengeful lightning bolt cast from the heavens. Check it out!
