5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, February 15, 2000
This review is from: The Bible--God's Word for the Biblically-Inept (Paperback)
When you lack a framework it's very difficult to understand anything. The interesting decorations of a home would mean nothing if there were no framework to attatch them too! This is what this book has done for me, given me a framework to attach these stories too. Many of the stories in the bible come to life when you know and understand what happened before and after and how the people who had the experiences might have thought. It really has brought to life the power of God for me and his complete plan from the beginning of the Bible to the end! I would recommend this to any level of Christian. I have been a Christian for 15 years and this has been an excellent tool for both learning and better equiping me to witness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't make it simple, just much easier to understand, February 9, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Bible--God's Word for the Biblically-Inept (Paperback)
Cute icons, study questions, direct verse references, and opinions from the top Bible experts in the world all add together to equal one of the greatest Biblical-study and reference texts ever. No other book that I have seen can match The Bible: God's Word for the Biblically-Inept for it's insight on confusing areas of the Bible and its easy-to understand language and design. This book has been a marvelous addition to my Bible-study group. We just can't wait to get started on Revelation and Daniel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thes best break-down of the Bible I have ever seen, November 4, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Bible--God's Word for the Biblically-Inept (Paperback)
This book is quite simply the best. I have read many other "guides" to the Bible, but none have come close to this work. It looks at the most intimidating piece of literature ever printed in a great deal of depth, yet makes it all too clear. I recommend this book for anyone who has not found God, has found Him but doesn't fully understand him, or has a solid knowledge of the Lord but wants to know even more. From beginners to Bible historians, this book can help us all. In light of the advanced moral decay in almost every aspect of our nation, we need this book to help explain God's Word to us.

This is an excellant tool for beginning Christians as well as those of use who have been with the Lord for a long time. This book gives a superb overview of this massive work, yet still manages to hit the details as well.

I highly recommend using this book for your first pass through the Bible. The Bible is not an easy work to read cover to cover. Genesis is a great story, but you need some contextual background to understand really being discussed in the first part of history. If you're lucky enough to get to Numbers, you could find yourself distracted by other pursuits and go no further. By following this overview and reading the related scriptures, you are directed to the key points that make the scriptures relevant and understand how the books of the Bible relate to each other. After you have completed this approach, then you can proceed onto tackling the whole Bible, or going deeper into specific books with other references.

Right now, I'm taking a Jr/Sr High School group though The Story, NIV: The Bible as One Continuing Story of God and His People, an excellent chronological review of the Bible. This other work is available for differnt age groups.

I haven't really read this book, cover to cover yet, I know it's good; I have also have the Revelations for the Bibically enept and have read it cover to cover and thoroughly enjoyed it, it breaks it down to where even a child can understand it and not be "afraid" or wonder about the verses ; and some adults like myself also. I like anything reading material to be kept simple, makes it easier to understand and keeps my attention; I encourage anyone who has trouble understanding the bible to get all the books on "enept" ; we need all the spritual understanding we can get. ; thanks for offering these materials so one can afford them; sincerely ;Roger Whitaker
