5.0 out of 5 stars Stories to enlighten even young children.
I actually still have the version of this book my mother read to me as a child. She must have started reading it to me when I was only three years old. Quite possibly this book started me on my way to finding God. I never forgot the stories or the painting style pictures. The pictures in fact fascinated me, and I remember looking through the book on my own at an...

3.0 out of 5 stars Paraphrase doesn't live up to beautiful artwork
Like some of the other reviewers, I grew up reading this book. I have a 1977 printing, as well as a recent one. The old copy was only recently returned to me and I was happy to marvel over some of the beautiful scenes depicted in this book. Truly, they are some of my earliest mental pictures of God and faith stories, particularly the image of God on the very first...

5.0 out of 5 stars Stories to enlighten even young children., July 14, 2000
This review is from: The Bible in Pictures for Little Eyes (Hardcover)
I actually still have the version of this book my mother read to me as a child. She must have started reading it to me when I was only three years old. Quite possibly this book started me on my way to finding God. I never forgot the stories or the painting style pictures. The pictures in fact fascinated me, and I remember looking through the book on my own at an early age.

The language in this book is in simple words, yet teaches great truths. This was the source of light to me as a child. Basically, this is a book of stories from the Bible in language very young children can understand. I quote:

King Solomon built this new house. Do you know who he made it for? It is God's house. It took a long time to build it because it is so nice. Solomon is glad because he could make this beautiful house for God to live in. I Kings 6:11-14

1. Whose house is this? 2. Is Solomon glad?

Not only are the stories understandable, children will enjoy answering the questions, pointing to items in the pictures and even possibly reading parts of the story themselves.

When I read my "adult" Bible, I sometimes wish my version was illustrated as beautifully as this book. At least the pictures are in my mind and remind me of when I first learned the beautiful stories of the Bible. There are so many lessons we can apply to our own lives today.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Book From My Childhood, October 13, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Bible in Pictures for Little Eyes (Hardcover)
One of my earliest memories is of slipping into the kindergarten classroom during recess to sneak a peek at the pictures. The teacher read a story every day and I could barely wait to hear the next one. It never occurred to me to simply ask to look at the book for a while! My beloved aunt recently bought a copy for my baby, it is my most prized gift! I loved this book!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars An adult remembers the influence this book had upon him., July 8, 1998
By A Customer
My parents used this book to teach me the basic points of the Gospel when I was a toddler. I remember being captivated by the colorful pictures and the exciting accounts of history as told in the Bible. More than anything, I remember the awesome sense of holiness and reality with which the truths contained in this book were conveyed. As I grew older, the foundation laid through the use of this book helped me to start a friendship with Jesus that has, thankfully, grown and deepened across the years. Any parent can rest assured that this book both accurately and reverently presents God's plan for mankind in a way that any child can understand.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully knitted together for little ones., February 9, 1998
I am using this book to teach my three year old Bible in the school I do with him in the mornings and it is just the right amount before he tends to want to get up and start something else. He is captivated by the pictures and the way the words flow for his age group. I have finally found a book that is compatible to his age group and at same time teaches the truth in God's Word. I would most definetly recommend mothers and fathers to use this book before bed time or during homeschooling little ones. What a great title: The Bible in Pictures for Little Eyes. It really says it all. Sincerely, Another Homeschooling Mom

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Book!, May 1, 2002
This review is from: The Bible in Pictures for Little Eyes (Hardcover)
This is a fantastic book. The artwork is simply beautiful - enchanting, actually - and the Bible stories are told in a simple yet engaging style. For the last year, my 3 1/2 year old has consistently asked for this book far more than any others. We read it every night before going to bed, and it is the first thing he asks for in the morning. He repeatedly tells us it is his favorite book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bible in Pictures '80's printing editions, April 16, 2002
By A Customer
Excellent book. The artwork is incredible. I remember the pictures from 20+ years ago. I lost my childhood copy so I was thrilled when I could replace it with one that looked exactly like the one I had. This is an excellent book for younger children because of the short stories(only one paragraph) and the artwork tells so much of the story too. It takes the bible and puts it at a level a little one can understand. There are even questions at the end of each story so you can talk about it with your little ones.

I too am an adult who loved this book as a child. I still have my 20+ year old copy to save for my children! I remember my mom would read one story per night. We would then talk about the story and answer the questions at the end together. The pictures are also quite beautiful and are still very helpful to visual learners like myself.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Bible in Pictures for Little Eyes is Fantastic, October 24, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I had this when I was in preschool and learned so much about the bible at such a young age. I read it to my boys and they too are captivated by the pictures, and the short story with questions holds their attention. The same is true for them. They are learning a lot at a young age because of the way this book is set up--short story with the important highlights and it makes sad and scary stories not scary for the little ones. I've since ordered it for a baby shower--GREAT book.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a wonderful book, May 31, 2008
This is a wonderful book for children of all ages. The content is accurate and the pictures are magnificent. They are much better the the newer version with cartoons. I hope that I can find more copies.

Used an original of this book with my children and found it very good. So good that I am now buying for my grandchild. Like the edition with realistic pictures so much more than the one with cartoon like figures.
