This cd is greatest hits:1983-1988 under a new name and different package,
This review is from: Bible of a Pimp (Audio CD)
I had the original version of this collection on cd until i lost it. I was unable to replace it for years due to its very limited availability. But now, I'm happy to find that these songs are available again with this release. For those who don't know, This cd is not another new Too Short mixtape but rather a collection of Too short's first 3 albums from 1983-1986 [The years 1987 and 1988 aren't reached because those were the years the classic Born to mack and Life is too short were released through Jive]. All of the songs are very old and Short sounds extremely young on these songs. The beats do not sound west coast at all, They sound like the typical mid-80's rap beats that you would hear from someone like Kool Moe Dee or Juice Crew. Too Short sounds much different on here than he even does on Born to mack or Life is too short and he raps in a very old school-80's style all throughout this collection. Due to that fact, All of the beats, rhymes, and flows sound outdated when compared with the rap music of today. But, there's still some catchy songs on here, Like ''Girl'', ''She's a b*tch'', ''Shortrapp'' [Which is my favorite song on here], and ''Don't stop rappin''. The material on here consists of home-made material, Meaning that the songs on this cd are extra shoddy. While i would never blast this cd loud on my stereo, This cd is somewhat of a guilty pleasure. This is the earliest Too Short material you will find and it gives you a good picture of what Short was like before he was signed to Jive. While the quality of these songs on this collection have nothing on Short's first 7 albums he did for Jive, It does serve for some more than listenable 80's underground hip-hop. However, A word of warning: Like the original version of this collection, This collection is expensive [$23 to be exact] and because of the poor quality of the songs of both of these discs, The logic of this price is very disputed [At least to me, Even if this version throws in an extra dvd]. Try to find it used if you can. If anything, This collection serves as a testament to who Short was before he found success.

Come on Too Short,
This review is from: Bible of a Pimp (Audio CD)
Alright look Too Short is one of my favorite rappers but lets face it. These songs on the CD are over 15 years old and have been remastered many times and sold on albums. There good songs short but why are you trying to make money off stuff you've already made your money for.
