5.0 out of 5 stars Bible Calendar, December 14, 2006

-The following review was written for the 2006 and previous year Bible Calendars. I'm not happy at all with the 2007 calendar. Amazon gives me no way to change my rating.-

Each Christmas I purchase this Workman Bible calendar for myself and as a gift for others. We look forward each day to the next inspirational scripture. It's a nice way to review the Bible and to meditate upon each Word from God as it applies to our lives. I even tear off some of my favorite verses and put them up on my bulletin board next to my desk. The calendar is simply printed in large bold text with a large bold date on the bottom - no images at all. It's a good way to introduce friends and family to the Bible if they've never read it.

The calendar has changed. It has pictures now, of things not even related to the Bible.

The print is now too small to read, and the date is in European format - not American.

Wednesday, 12 January, 2007 instead of Wednesday, January 12, 2007.

It is small at the bottom. The date numerals used to be big! The verse use to be BOLD!

Not any more!

The date is not readable without picking up the calendar, or using reading glasses. Nor is the verse. I spoke to the manufacturer, and they IMPROVED it. It is no longer usable as a calendar, nor even for Bible verses. Nice pictures, though? It is also no longer a page a day, since Saturday and Sunday share a page. A Bible calendar should not have a FALSE NAME. Nice touch.

We bought 3 to replace last year's calendars, and mom is very upset about this. By the way, the other reviewer obviously never saw THIS 2007 calendar. Mom went to book stores trying to get these, and there were none locally, so I spent time surfing for them, and ended up at Amazon. She thought they would look ok. WRONG. We wasted a lot of time.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as it used to be, January 15, 2007
This review is from: 365 Bible Verses-A-Year Page-A-Day Calendar 2007 (Calendar)
I have bought this calendar for my husband's Christmas present for at least the past ten years. We liked it because it featured Bible verses and only Bible verses, in good big type that was easy to see. This year (2007) for some unknown reason, somebody felt the need to add hokey nature pictures and combine the Saturday and Sunday verses onto one page. The result is that the verses themselves are about 1/10 the size they used to be, making them harder to read. We are not interested in pictures of trees and flowers and brooks and clouds. We probably won't buy this again unless they return to their previous format. But it does still feature a Bible verse for each day of the year.
