page turner !!!,

This review is from: La Biblia de Barro (Spanish Edition) (Paperback)
A couple of months before the start of the war in Irak, the archeologist Clara Tannenberg, with the help of her grandfather, begins her search for the mud bible, which well give the proof that Abraham really existed. She needs to be carefull, because a couple of art dealers also want this bible and a group of four friends have a sixty year old bill to settle with Clara's grandfather.
A great book about archeology, religion, war, art smuggle, greed and revenge. A look in the simple and everyday life in Irak and the luxury life of millionaires in the United States and Egypt. On the one hand you have the simple people who want to find the Bible for religious and archeological causes, on the other hand the terrifying, bloodthirsty criminals who will do everything to get their hands in the Bible. An incredible page turner !

A GOOD READ,

This review is from: BIBLIA DE BARRO, LA (Spanish Edition) (Paperback)
I read this book almost 5 months ago. I definitely consider Julia Navarro a great writer. The drama keeps you awake; I usually read it very early in the morning and kept me arriving late at the office. i even took it to my office to read it in lunch time. It is so good, that Navarros guide you thru history and you start to ask you some questions: if its possible or plausible that those things could happen or still happen. If you decides to give a gift, this book would be an excellent choice. The last chapters are amazing. Once finished, you would start to recollect parts of the book for a clear and better understanding of what really happens.
Buy it!

This review is from: La Biblia de Barro (Spanish Edition) (Paperback)
This is the first book that I've read from this author. It's a good and interesting story;and the story telling has a good flow to it. most of the characters are not developed or not enough was told about them. The ending surprise me due to the fact that it has a last minute twist to it. Overall I recomend this book.

This review is from: Biblia de barro / Bible of Clay (Spanish Edition) (Hardcover)

In Rome, a man confesses to his son, Father Gian Maria, a priest, that he is going to kill a man. At an archeological convention, Clara Tannenberg, a young archeologist from Iraq, proposes the existence of a Bible made of clay that was dictated by Abraham to a young scribe, Shamas, near the antique city of Ur, present day Iraq. The Clay Bible, if authentic, would be the scientific proof of Abraham's existence and his version of the creation of the world (Book of Genesis), the universal flood, and the tower of Babel. This two acts starts in motion a series of events of epic proportions. Clara convinces a team of archeologists. lead by the renown Frenchman, Yves Picot, to embark in an expedition against time to excavate in before President Bush invades Iraq (March 10, 2003), in a remote corner near the Euphrates river. The announcement also starts another set of movements from a set of four friends who have sworn vengeance against the Tannenberg family for atrocities committed during the second World War. Clara's grandfather is not only a feared criminal, but also, a merchant of antiquities and has a plan to rob Iraq of all its treasures when the Us starts bombarding Iraq. Clara embarks in a set of risky excavations that make her the target of many of the family's past enemies: from millionaire art dealers, to four Jews, who will stop at nothing to get their loot and their vengeance. Julia Navarro has created a novel that is a page turner. It is amazing as it is timeless. First of all, she uses the Universal point of view admirably. A feat that by itself places her in a very limited set of authors. I was impressed with her ability to create characters that jump out of the page and grab you. The plolt is complicated, but her terrifiuc narrative keeps you imformed and entertained. She grabs you from the beginning. Even though there are many characters (including scenes of Abraham diuctating the Clay Bible to Shamas), you are always aware of who everyone is. The plot develops in a very orderly way up the the climax. I read three hundred pages the last day, because as Ms. Navarro started explaining all the plots and had the characters come together, I simply could not put the book down. This book should be in everyone's personal library. (It is available in multiple languages, I read the original Spanish version)

mmm....,

This review is from: La Biblia De Barro (Spanish Edition) (Paperback)
I expected so much more from this book, especially after the Author previous one "The Brotherhood of the holy shroud". The truth is, for moments, it is even boring, the last third of the book I was only scanning so I could reach the end. More that 700 pages and the end is completed in only 20 and, above all, terribly bad. I will read the next book from this Author but if it is not more like the first one, it would be the last one I read. I wouldn't recommend this book.

Good story but a little long.,

Navarro's first book (Brotherhood of the Holy Shroud)was a good read. La Biblia de Barro tends to be too long (767 pages) and redundant.
