Review

"Rachelle Weisberger's  unique perspective sanctifies the idea of beauty.  Biblical Beauty presents fresh insights that are inspirational and empowering -- and reminds us of the deeper and more compelling aspects of true beauty." -- Shmuley Boteach, bestselling author of Kosher Sex

"Biblical Beauty is a real treat.  Rachelle Weisberger offers tips and practical advice on beauty, spirituality and wellness all without having to shell out a lot of money.  Who knew our ancient beauties could teach us so much? --  Janice Lieberman, NBC consumer correspondent for the Today show

"Rachelle Weisberger is a woman blessed with intelligence, heart and talent.  She has now brought her imagination and scholarship to focus on the intersection of the Bible and beauty, which is a natural synthesis of her talents." --  Phyllis Tobin, PhD, psychologist and author of Motherhood Optional

" A beauty expert par excellence -- Rachelle Weisberger now shares her wisdom with us all."
--Alphonse Hill, celebrity makeup artist

"I appreciate the author's voice. It is not preachy and does not make the reader feel guilty. Her text flows and her ideas are informative, leading the reader to enlightenment. Overall, this is a sensitive, well-planned book, touching on spiritual, intellectual, emotional and mundane concerns. I cannot imagine Biblical Beauty not being appreciated by any reader fortunate enough to turn its pages." -- Judge, Writer's Digest 21st Annual Self-Published Book Awards

From the Author

Beauty can be a sensitive issue for women at each stage of their lives, myself included.  As an insecure, bespectacled young girl prone to acne breakouts, which lasted on and off for many years, I was drawn to the beauty field.  I became a licensed cosmetologist specializing in makeup artistry, and I eventually created my own line of holistic skin care and makeup products.  My expertise expanded to the medical field, specializing in  camouflage makeup and also helping many women cope with problem skin and the unattractive side effects of cosmetic surgery, chemotherapy and radiation.  As a former beauty director for a chain of spas, I supervised an integrated skin care, health and fitness program.
I wrote Biblical Beauty because I felt it was time to filter out the cultural noise -- from beauty magazines, celebrity makeup endorsers and Internet sites -- that can make us feel inferior, and very old.  My purpose in writing this book was to present a practical guide and resource so that women can feel pride in their physical appearance and find satisfaction in their lives -- at every age.
My research led me to remarkable women who were renowned for their alluring looks.  But, in fact, their attractiveness also came from a source within that was rooted in a purposeful life. These women are proof that beauty is a reflection of our innermost qualities and the gift of a healthy way of life.
By exploring scriptural examples of our outer and inner qualities, Biblical Beauty: Ancient Secrets and Modern Solutions, redefines the nature of beauty itself.  Standards of beauty have been reshaped by different cultures and reassessed throughout the centuries. Biblical beauty is timeless.

Recently I was given the chance to review Biblical Beauty: Ancient Secrets and Modern Solutions by Rachelle Weisberger. I was a little uncertain about what I was getting myself into as I don’t typically read books about beauty; however, I was drawn in by the idea of a book with focus on biblical and ancient times.

The book is laid out in chapters that cover skin care, sun care, makeup, hair care, healthy aging, motherhood, and feminine leadership. I also enjoyed the focus on the balance between work and family.

Think about everyday life and the role that beauty plays in our world. Beauty magazines, television, the world of celebrity, makeup, everything exercise and diet. Beauty is everywhere and there is no escaping it. Then again, like anything, it is all about how we look at things and what we do with the information that is given to us. I love that Weisberger highlights the idea that beauty is multifaceted; it isn’t just about what we see on the surface, this really resonated with me.

Until just recently I held a high paying job with the federal government that required me to dress nicely, do my hair, wear makeup, and put my best foot forward. Sound great, right? It sounds great on the surface but not so much. The job didn’t make me feel good about myself. No matter how nicely I dressed, how perfect my makeup was, or if I was sporting an amazing hairstyle I felt ugly and that radiated from the inside out. Now, as I transition to the next phase of my life I have found that I feel more attractive even when I am wearing PJ pants and a comfy t-shirt. As Weisberger shares, biblical beauty resonates throughout the entire body and radiates physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.

Biblical Beauty is beautifully written. It takes us all back to the basics in a day and age when we are turning to artificial methods to take car of ourselves. The biblical references give us a deeper view into the history of aesthetics. I would recommend this book as a gift or for yourself!

Biblical Beauty by Rachelle Weisberger is a rare find. It combines the old with the new, breathing new life into the women of the Bible and showing how they exhibited both strength and beauty. Weisberger shows us that beauty is timeless and is defined by both inner and outer qualities as she deftly weaves the stories of these heroic women.
This is a scholarly, well researched book that gives an intelligent look at all aspects of beauty, health, and aging . It has practical and relevant tips that the reader can easily apply in her own beauty regimen.
Weisberger's book is more than just an interesting read. It gives advice and information that empowers the modern woman to follow in the footsteps of her biblical predecessors and discover and enhance her natural beauty.
This is not a book that collects dust on a shelf. It will be referred to time and again for its wisdom and helpful advice. This is a perfect gift to give to the women in your life.
