About the Author

"I pray that none will be offended if I seek to make of the Christian Religion an Inn where all are received joyously, rather than a place where a few close friends of the family are received." Richard Hooker

These words of Richard Hooker inspired Craig Bettendorf as he studied for ministry within the Anglican tradition. This message of creating a place of inclusivity and mutuality has been a hallmark endeavor throughout his faith journey and ministry. The study of Liberation theology as expressed by Gustavo Gutierrez and exemplified by the life of fallen Archbishop Oscar Romero gave Bettendorf great faith and spiritual determination. The following statement of events briefly depicts the journey that lead to the writing of A Biblical Defense Guide for Gays, Lesbians and those who love them.

This is a remarkable book giving a "biblical defense guide" with which to answer the fundamental judgmental views of the spectrum of sexuality. In particular I appreciated the understanding of temple cult prostitution to explain the apparent condemnations in Roman Chapter 1. As one who has taken the Scriptures seriously all my life I realize how little we know of the ancient world.
My instincts that the lives of GLBT need respect and justice is vindicated! Thank you Craig Bettendorf - not only from me but from many in our church who have found hope in your understanding.

A remarkable book written in clear, simple language. It confronts the marginalization and victimization of LGBT people by those who seek to mistranslate and misquote the Biblical scriptures for their own agenda. It also explores Biblical inerrancy and addresses the rhetoric spewed out from the poison pulpit. It especially is directed at Gay and Lesbian youth and assures them that God and others love them just the way they are. It is short and to the point and I highly recommend it.

This is an incredible little book that explains what the original Greek and Hebrew meanings of the Bible referred to in reference to the word homosexuality that is used in modern day translations. It calls for an abolition of hate in the Church of Jesus Christ and an acceptance of all. Prepare to be challenged in your thinking about homosexuality and what the Bible really says as well as what has been/is being taught in so many of our churches. The writer's material is very freeing for the GLBT community as it was for myself. I recommend this book very highly. "You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free." John 8:38

Very easy to read. However there are many ways in which it invites you into further study or gives you a new perspective to ponder.
