5.0 out of 5 stars What an alternative!, February 8, 2001
This review is from: Biblical Graffiti (Audio CD)
A friend of mine who is religious but not pushy about it suggested that I listen to this CD by the Christian parody band called ApologetiX. I agreed mostly out of curiousity about what could have prompted such rave reviews from someone who is not prone to this sort of enthusiastic outpourings. It didn't take long before I heard for myself what the excitement was all about. The music covers all genres and appeals to all ages. The lyrics actually make sense on their own in addition to fitting into the original music. It was amazing how identical to the original the music and the lead singer sounded. I now own a Biblical Graffiti CD for my car and another one for my classroom. I put it on in the morning before class begins and the kids figured out on their own that the words to "my" version of "their" music carried a message they didn't have to be ashamed of. I hope this inspires someone else to just listen to what this talented group has to offer in much the same way my friend inspired me. While I give this CD my whole-hearted endorsement, it is capable of standing on it's own merit for the sound and the message it offers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Make this your first ApologetiX CD, February 20, 2001

If you have never heard the music of ApologetiX, purchase this CD (I mean right now, even before this review is over!) and you will be blown away! These songs sound amazingly close to the original songs that are being spoofed, in vocals, instrumentation, production quality, and in lyrics that fit the original songs perfectly. You will laugh, but you will also think very deeply about what the lyrics are saying. J. Jackson is a master at writing lyrics that not only match the original songs, but also stand alone as powerful messages. Biblical Graffiti contains songs that will appeal to rock fans of all ages: from the Beatles to the Barenaked Ladies, from the Stones to Smash Mouth. You will love this CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars you WON'T be disappointed, February 20, 2001

Wow, ANOTHER great disc from the Apologetix guys! Everything from Elvis to Barenaked Ladies and everything in between (even the obligatory country song). Take an exciting journey through the Bible as we first see a guy who lived a long time, but there is something more important than that. Observe sibling rivalry at its highest in Twins Came Out. Learn that even though we ain't been nothing yet, God can use us in a mighty way. Just don't disobey God or you might have a donkey talk with you. Even worse, you may have to wa-wa-wa-wander in a desert. Sinful people can be changed - just ask the lawful woman in a bad place. God can help us in difficult situations, even in deep water survival. We must rely on God to kick in the walls that we can't overcome. Then enters Samson, who wasted what God gave him. Saul tried to defy God, but David cleverly saved himself as a crazy little king God loves, so don't be quick to question the motives of an innocent dancing Dave. If stay humble and avoid greed, God can make you a smart blest man (or woman). You'll see that God takes care of his own when a jail got rocked. See all he did & try keeping up with a fast Paul. We learn we can trust the Bible if we listen to Second Timothy. Be prepared for an Armageddon Valley someday so you won't be deceived by a Revelation man! Rather than droppin' on the sun, why not follow the God who bends to low places? Let Him help you with every step to take since He is the one way. You will be blessed by (and laugh with) this CD!

I Can't Believe It's Christian Music! - Apologetix has taken Rock n Roll classics and soon to be classics and turned them in to GREAT Christian music. These guys have taken contemporary music and made it into music my whole family enjoys. I've even used their songs as part of my elementary Sunday School lessons. Great music and great lyrics - I.C.B.I.C.M!

5.0 out of 5 stars Biblical Graffiti: A must have!, February 8, 2001

This is the Album that introduced us to Apologetix. When my husband saw the album cover "Pink Floyd meets Led Zeppelin" he said "This has got to be good". Sure enough, we were blown away by it. We are so amazed that one band can sound like such a variety of others from The Police to Metallica! As with all of their CD's- There is a song on Biblical Graffiti for everyone! God Bless!

Biblical Graffiti, with its parodied rock songs from the 50's-90's, takes some songs with awesome music and changes the lyrics to words that lift up Jesus. It's hearing Bible history in a whole new and fun way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Christian Parody CD I've Heard, February 20, 2001
This review is from: Biblical Graffiti (Audio CD)
This is my favorite ApologetiX CD and I think all of them are worth the money spent. The music is a great mix of oldies and modern rock. Great music. Fantastic lyrics. I smile when I hear the great word-play parodies. There are many outstanding songs on this CD and my favorites are: One Way, Twins Came Out, 969, Kick In the Wall, Fast Paul, and Revelation Man. I enjoy listening to this CD over and over again. Recommend purchasing it.

5.0 out of 5 stars APOLOGETIX: BE PREPARED TO BE CHALLENGED!, April 29, 2002
This review is from: Biblical Graffiti (Audio CD)
"Biblical Graffiti" is another Apologetix marriage of secular music to Christian lyrics that challenges your world view while you are enjoying yourself immensely. This CD contains parodies of songs from the 50's ("Jailhouse Rock" by Elvis Presley) to the 90's ("Walking on The Sun" by Smash Mouth) with the 60's, 70's, and 80's in between. My favorites are "969" (a parody of Bryan Adams's "Summer of 69"), "Creedence Through Deepwater Survival" (a parody of "Proud Mary" by Creedence Clearwater Revival), and "Bends in Low Places" (a parody of "Friends in Low Places" by Garth Brooks). Other artists parodied include Barenaked Ladies, Metallica, and Queen among a number of others.
Get it and be challenged and entertained all at once.

5.0 out of 5 stars They get better and better with each release, October 11, 2001
This review is from: Biblical Graffiti (Audio CD)
This CD is a Christian parody of classic and modern rock songs. I especially am fond of 'Twins Came Out,' (a parody of the Beatles' Twist and Shout), '2 Timothy' ( a parody of Mercy Playground's 'Sex and Candy'), 'Smart Blest Man,' (a rewrite of ZZ Top's 'Sharp Dressed Man) ... oh heack, I love all of the songs. The singer is a real rock and roll chameleon. How he can get his voice to sound like the original artists without straining is beyond me. The band also continues to improve with each CD, and this album even features the guest drummer from Weird Al Yankovic's band on seven cuts.

This cd is excellent, and I highly recommend it.
