5.0 out of 5 stars Heartwarming and informative
Reading Christina Wilkinson's book made me proud to live in Ohio, with it's rich history. Not only is it informative and laid out in an easy to read manner, it is so very heartwarming. And photos are wonderful too!
A very good read.

I found the writing of Ms. Wilkinson's book to be interesting and informative, however, the pictures were very disappointing and somewhat amateurish. The images were out of focus, and many of them wrapped across two pages, resulting in the crease disrupting the reader's appreciation of the picture. I bought the book because of the good reviews, and although the text...

Christina Wilkinson traveled to all four corners and 88 counties of Ohio photographing the barns that were painted for the Bicentennial. She spoke with many of the owners, and shares these stories with us. There were several books on the Bicentennial barns, but this one is the most personalized that I have seen. It will endure.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bicentennial Barns of Ohio, July 12, 2006
This review is from: Bicentennial Barns of Ohio (Paperback)
I am very dissapointed with the book. It was given to me by a friend as a gift. I have yet to see one good photograph of the barns in this book and many of the Bicentennial Logs are so blurry you cant read them. The nature of the book, softbound is very difficult to use when referencing directions as when driving as you cant get the page flattend out to read the directions. There are a few misspelled words and the text is ok, i feel like the book was rushed into print and could of been so much better. Doesnt the Bicentennial deserve a better product to showcase there barns? I heard there was a better book out and i am gonna order it in hopes it is a much better product.

I found the writing of Ms. Wilkinson's book to be interesting and informative, however, the pictures were very disappointing and somewhat amateurish. The images were out of focus, and many of them wrapped across two pages, resulting in the crease disrupting the reader's appreciation of the picture. I bought the book because of the good reviews, and although the text was indeed impressive, the lack of professional images brought the quality level down several notches, in my opinion. The bicentennial logos painted on each barn is what epitomizes the Ohio Bicentennial celebration, and photographs of the barns should be of the utmost importance in a book like this. I now have both books and I prefer the one by Ms. Gorczyca and Mr. Miller because the images are sharp and crisp, and the book as a whole is more well-rounded. If the reader is looking for a book that truly showcases Ohio's Bicentennial barns, this book is not it.
