5.0 out of 5 stars An Absolute Killer.. Highly, highly recommended.
Last year I ordered my first deck of Black Tiger playing cards from Ellusionist. Like many others who consider purchasing this deck, I was skeptical at first as to how great these cards really were. I went ahead and spent the $6.99, and when the deck arrived in the mail it hit me in the face like a pile of bricks (not literally, of course). "Wha... How... Who... Wow" were...

Having recently gotten hooked on Michigan Rummy, a game requiring each player to have their own deck, I wanted to purchase some extras. "Wha... How... Who... Wow" were the first 'words' out of my mouth.

These cards look absolutely incredible. If you've ever had the opportunity to see a magician or flourisher perform with this deck, whether it be in real life or in a video, imagine being in their place. Imagine holding these cards in your hand and performing with them. Not only does it feel, well, awesome when you perform with this deck, you gain a raised level of confidence and mental focus. It's almost as if these cards have a spiritual effect on the human body. For me, they did.

I instantly became a fan of the incredible stock quality of the card. For those who aren't aware, the "stock" of a card is basically what it's made out of and the overall physical contents of the card.

If you're skeptical about purchasing these cards, please take my word for it and buy them. I am not a paid reviewer, I'm not an Ellusionist staff member, and I'm not the CEO of Amazon trying to make a buck. I'm a real person. I'm a real performer. And I use the Black Tiger deck.

These are just lovely- I bought them to use together with a black spider deck and the combination of the black and white and red from both decks is just what I was looking for. A bit goth and sci-fi and geek. Unique and interesting, but still usable fun cards. Mostly I play a version of rummy with my family, but sometimes a bit of solitaire or card houses. Just pretty entertainment. I don't plan on using them for magic, as I think they were meant to be. But I think they would work well for that. They are very durable and slick, but don't show fingerprints easily. I'm happy with this purchase!

4.0 out of 5 stars Black Tiger Bite, May 27, 2008

The Bicycle Black Tiger deck was originally intended for the avid magician. It includes a regular deck of playing cards (54 cards including jokers) with an unusual color design. The face of the card obviously is black, and the white design of the pips, faces, and suits really makes this deck look awesome(especially under a black light). Great for any collector, magician, or regular game play, these cards are very high quality, and could add excitement to a Holloweeen card night.

Having recently gotten hooked on Michigan Rummy, a game requiring each player to have their own deck, I wanted to purchase some extras. To this end, I got two really cool-looking decks--the Ghost deck and the Black Tiger deck--which are intended for use with magic tricks. That was my first mistake. The second was getting THIS Black Tiger deck, the product I'm currently reviewing, which was apparently added before the reverse image Black Tiger deck came out. The original, with red pips, was what I wanted; the reverse image deck, which is all in black and white, is what I got. As this product doesn't specify which type it is, I suppose whoever was passing along my order or whatever got confused and assumed I wanted the newer and therefore more desirable deck, but just try differentiating between hearts and spades at a glance when both are the same color. It's nigh impossible and extremely frustrating, even with the Ghost deck (in which only the tiny pips just below the numbers are colored properly), so if you're looking for good playing cards, move on.
If you're the magician type, though, buy away. I'm sure they're very trick-enhancing, as both of the above reviews advocate.
On second thought, perhaps the original Black Tiger isn't SO bad for card games--in fact, it might even confuse your opponents--but then I wouldn't know, would I? If you want 'em, make sure the product name goes something like "Black Tiger [RED]".

5.0 out of 5 stars The BEST cards I have used in a magic trick!, December 3, 2006
This review is from: Bicycle Black Tiger Playing Cards by Ellusionist.com [RARE] (Toy)
The first purchase I ever made from Ellusionist consisted of four Ghost decks and four Tiger decks. The Tiger decks were a present to my friend, since he had a similar interest in magic. However, only a week after we had both been performing tricks at the same campus with our new decks, it became clear that his all-black Tiger deck definitely garnered the greater reaction among spectators. I eventually convinced him to swap one of my Ghost decks for one of his Tigers and when I finally got one of those works of art in my hands, I was blown away.

The red pips on black card stock look absolutely stunning. I opened the deck in a room and three girls flocked to me immediately, admiring my cards and commenting on how cool they looked. Just using the cards is a great ice breaker at any party where you want to attract that one girl's (or guy's, as it may be the case) attention.

These cards are worth every penny and are definitely the most beautifully designed cards I have handled.
