10-01-11 finally took the mattress pad out of the box and put it on the bed, we were a little dissapointed that it was not a skirted mattress pad as advertised, instead it had 4 straps to hold it in place. my wife liked it as she's the one who gets cold when it's 75 degrees indoors, other than the lack of a skirt it works great and was at a good price. How wonderful on a cold night to get into a cozy bed! Turning on the pad about half an hour prior to going to bed assures a warm welcome at bedtime. The dual controls are great because my wife likes it warmer overall than I do, although I have it warmer early on and then turn it down when I actually get into bed. That was the one thing we missed most when we moved from the water bed to the mattress bed: the water bed had a heater and it was always welcoming and warm no matter the season. So now, thanks to this mattress pad, we can once again have a cozy bed on a cold night. We keep our bedroom quite cool but it's no fun to shiver in bed, so this is the ideal solution. There are no wires to poke and no problems at all. We recommend it without reservation. There is only one minor problem: at night it is not possible to read the heat level on the control. The light on the control washes out the numbers. Our solution was to take a permanent marker and go over the usual number and one other; an alternate approach is to create a large arrow symbol with the marker for the usual setting, and then another, a circle, for a lower setting. Easy to read in the dark of night and fool-proof. The product design engineers should have realized that when they designed the control unit. But, as I said, by making that addition with the permanent marker we solved the problem and find this is a great product.
