Book Description

1998 – On-line auctions are the new craze, and tech writer and vineyard co-owner Cissy Rayburn is joining the frenzy. New friend Amy is teaching Cissy and old friend Julia how to navigate the wonderful world of eBuy. But while the ladies were at Cissy’s house on the computer, someone broke into Amy’s and Julia’s houses.

Could it have something to do with the weekend estate sale they all went to? The other big buyer at the auction was Rose Jackson, retired county government employee and on-line auction shark. Cissy wonders if Rose’s house was broken into as well. But when she stops by Rose’s house, she finds that not only was the house broken into – so was Rose’s head.

Now Cissy is once again hip-deep in a murder investigation, but with the added aggravation of providing a temporary home for Rose’s untrained and obnoxious chihuahua Paco. Both identifying the killer and finding a permanent home for this awful little dog seem like impossible tasks.

The second of the series, I hope the author writes more. A good mystery with out gore, sex, PG rated. As a boomer I could relate to Cecil.

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved this sequel to 'Died on the Vine' June 13, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
It was nice to visit with Cissy and her best friend, Julia again in this 'retrospective' look at the early days of online auctions.

This was a very fun read that moved briskly but gave you plenty of insights into the characters of the this Virginia community. I also enjoyed insights into the winery and as a dog lover, I also liked watching Paco's training progress. I do hope that there is a sequel in the works.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and quirky sequel January 29, 2013

She's baaaacck! A fun sequel to Died On The Vine. A cozy mystery series is like visiting with old friends, and it's great to catch up with Cissy and her gang.

This is an entertaining, fast-paced, story, with an intriguing mystery, quirky characters, and plenty of humor. Paco the bereaved chihuahua is infuriating, hilarious, and adorable.

I wish the Passatonnack Winery was a real place; I'd like to visit!

More About the Author

Joyce Harmon has been from one side of the galaxy to the other (slight exaggeration) and seen a lot of strange stuff (very true). Since retiring from the Navy, she has worked as a winery tour guide, a journalist for a local newspaper, selling collectibles on eBay, and making candles - and always, always, a writer. She shares her rural Virginia home with two haughty and indolent cats and one clever, busy dog, and is haunted by a noisy crowd of characters, all clamoring to be written down and set loose into the world. She accommodates them as quickly as she can. She is the author of the Passatonnack Winery mysteries, Died On The Vine and Bidding On Death. A Feather To Fly With is her first Regency romance, and she is currently working on a sequel.
Joyce blogs occasionally at , mostly about her dog.
