3.0 out of 5 stars "The Album Bumps With A Few Standouts" (Rating: 7 out of 10- -3.5 stars)
Bay Area rappers, Keek da Sneak, PSD, and Messy Marv, are well known for their Northern California rhyme style. I doubt many people know anything about them before the hyphy movement came into play (let alone anything from Thizz Nation- RIP Mac Dre). I myself, heard very little from either person on here, outside a few random guest appearances (Keek da Sneak appeared on...

4.0 out of 5 stars sick bay collabo, February 8, 2009
This review is from: Da Bidness (Audio CD)
I just wanted to write a quick review for this album. I thought the first reviewer did a good job, but one thing that stood out to me was he said he hasn't heard any of marv's, keak's, or PSD's albums apparently prior to 2006. I think that doesn't give you a fair perception of this collabo. I feel this album is better than their solo projects because each of them can become a bit monotonous on their own. The beats are on slap throughout and I would say there are at least 10 songs that tight. I would give it 3 and 1/2 or 4 stars.

4 songs that make the album worth a purchase: Gumbo Pot, Cus/Cus, Burden of His Youth, Yeeee

Bay Area rappers, Keek da Sneak, PSD, and Messy Marv, are well known for their Northern California rhyme style. I doubt many people know anything about them before the hyphy movement came into play (let alone anything from Thizz Nation- RIP Mac Dre). I myself, heard very little from either person on here, outside a few random guest appearances (Keek da Sneak appeared on E-40's hit single "Tell Me When To Go" shortly before this album came out). The music here is pretty much standard Bay Area rap, with nothing new to the table when it comes to the rhymes. Most of the topics range from money, to drugs, etc., stuff that many have heard before (but were handled better).

There are a few great standouts here on the album. A favorite is the posse cut "Thick O' Thangz" featuring Mistah F.A.B., San Quinn, Dubee the Sugawolf, and Turf Talk. The single "Cus Cus" is a good track, mostly the production helped the song. "Gumbo Pot" has a good appearance by E-40 doing the hook. Further down the album, Keek da Sneak has the solo track "That Go" which is solid. I personally cannot see myself listening to an entire album by him, because I would have quickly gotten tried of his voice. But it's not that bad hearing him along with PSD and Marv. "Hey Girl" is a hot track that features San Quinn, a huge standout in my opinion. Towards the end is "Hoes....." featuring the late Mac Dre, full of banging production. The track "Eff Da World, We Luv Furl" with his more excellent production. The hidden bonus track "Cus Cus (Remix)" features different artists, but everything else is very similar.

The album itself is solid, but don't expect any high expectations on here. As I mentioned before, there are a few nice standouts on here, but the overall product is reasonably good. The production on here done by Droop-E, Jake-One, Clipso, and a few others plays a heavy part on here. If you like Bay Area rap, like I do, then this will fit your enjoyment. Peace.
