This candle is exactly what you pay for. It does take a LONG time to burn down. I waited until the last minute and was unable to purchase another candle in time for my 1 year old's birthday. There are better higher quality candles out there, just make sure that you plan ahead. Overall, a good buy but not the heirloom quality that I would have wanted but I knew that prior to the purchase.

This is a very good Birthday candle. We bought it for our son's 1st birthday and intend to burn it each year. There are a couple of things I'd like to point out.

It does take awhile for a year to burn off of the candle. I started the burning at the beginning of the party and had to burn it some the next day to get it down to the 2. Not a big deal. Just will start burning it a little earlier next year. You also need to work with it occasionally while it is burning. Just mold the wax a bit so it stays level and keeps making progress.

The candle is a little bigger than I expected but that presented no problem at all. It made a very nice centerpiece at the dinner table for his party.

Our main goal was to have something like this to burn each year as a keepsake and sentimental meaning. Serves that purpose perfectly.

This candle is as low quality as I can imagine. It burned out completely after about 14 hours. We lit it yesterday for about 6 hours. We needed to burn it down to age 8 since this was a gift for our 8-year old daughter. It only burned to about age 1 even though it burned for hours. So today we lit it again. After 6 hours, it burned down to age 3. We left it burning without watching it for another 2 hours and suddenly found it completely burned down to nothing but wax everywhere.
In summary, the candle is advertised to last about 42 hours of burning. This is frankly not at all true. Do not buy this candle. If you insist on buying it, closely watch it to gauge how fast it is burning since the burn time is not consistent. Our candle burned from age 3 to age 21 within a 2-hour time period!

We have two other birthday candles (not this brand) purchased 15 and 13 years ago for our sons. We love the tradition of a birthday candle and wanted to honor our daughter with one as well. I'm in search of a better candle now...
