Britpop Brilliance,

Help out a Southern boy here... can you be Welsh and BritPop at the same time? Take whatever overworn adjective you use when a band blows you away, and it applies to these guys: kick ass, rockin', awesome. There are several absolute gems here. I'm talkin' classic rock'n'roll tunes - Happy Shopper, Pig Valentine (extra points for best title), No. 1 Pure Alcohol. If you like loud, punky, and tuneful guitar, and with great lyrics to boot, buy this disc and you'll never look back. I ain't from Wales, but I know a great band, and this is the real thing.

Another brilliant band lost in the mix...,

This is what music is all about. Anyone who is a true rock fan will appreciate this album, especially if into so-called Brit-Pop (Suede, Oasis, etc). Standout songs include "Stay", "Hair", "No. 1 Pure Alcohol", "Pig Valentine", "Good Times", and of course "Happy Shopper". The others are very good as well, I've only listed the ones that are extremely catchy. If you like this, check out Candy Skins, Material Issue, and Ride. Why their label didn't promote them more, who knows? Perhaps DGC/Geffen was too busy dealing with Courtney Love fulfilling her contract and legal issues?

Forgotten Gem...,
This review is from: Big 3 (Audio CD)
I was a part of the Welsh Indie Scene back in the early to mid 1990s, and saw the 60FT Dolls many times, it was a joke that no matter what club you went to in S Wales to see 'the next big thing' they would be supported by the Dolls. Always. They worked hard, and they disappeared fast, but left this gem of a debut, one of the most unpretentious albums of the era. Pure rock, pure fun, pure mid-90s Wales. I was reminded of it all while watching the movie 'Igby Goes Down' when No. 1 Pure Alcohol started blaring out and I almost fell off the chair in amazement.

This album rocks...no doubt about it. Welsh attitude at its best. For everyone, especially those who grew up in Wales and know what Happy Shopper was !

Listening to the 60ft Doll's Big 3 is like entering your Welsh local listening to the Jam...its a revelation and a highly unheard of and unappreciated album. Britpop's sleeper pick an enjoyable entity for all fans of the Jam and britpop Best trax: happy shopper, #1 pure alcohol, loser

The Fab Three,

This album's been out for a while, but I just had to give people the chance to know what it's all about. It's all about good music. These guys can rock, and they probably know how to roll, too. They get my review for best rock (even though they go farther than that) album for this half of the nineties. Aggression seems to be their middle name. Standout trax like "Happy Shopper", "Hair", and "Pig Valentine" make this an album worth owning to any lover of the British Next Wave.

A totally rockin' rebirth of British rock and roll. A timeless classic... and when you're finished wearing this one out buy You Am I's "#4 Record" or Smoking Popes "Born To Quit" immediately after.
