WHat I was looking for
on November 10, 2010
I've seen the "travel pillows" or the "camp pillows" at the sporting goods stores. Basically fleece covered foam that you scrunch up to make a small pillow, not much smaller for packing. I was never impressed with them. What I wanted was a large pillow that can actually support my head and yet pack away very small with light weight.
This is it. Since it is inflatable you get a much larger support, that is adjustable as well. Not only that, it folds away to many times its size reduced! The memory foam pad really helps with smoothing out the pleats in the air bladder and with temperature control as well. The cover is nice and cool and feels very nice on skin.
The carry bag is large. basically a foutrh of the pillow size (The pillow is folded over twice to make a smaller rectangle), but let me assure you you can roll this baby much smaller and tighter if you need to squeeze it in somewhere.
The only thing I don't know is its durability. Being an inflatable product there is a concern that it may not hold up. So far I've only taken it on one backpacking trip and it was great, but for this price I want it to last thru many expeditions. maybe I'll remember to comae back and edit this with an update.
The air nozzle is just like a sleeping pad nozzle in quality (which is good) but smaller and tucks out of the way for comfort.
Kinda pricy, but it was what I was looking for!
I'm back after over a year and many nights and two long haul bus trips later (Yeah, it's perfect to throw in a small pack and use on the bus) and she holding up fine. I am not babying it either. So far about 15 nights camping and 6 days aboard a charter bus, and still going fine.
